Inspired by the Favorite dance scene in film? I thought it might be fun to recall/post ones favorite or most memorable singing scenes from the movies. I tried using the search function, as I guess there have been several similar threads/topics been made over the years. But after browsing through 11 pages, not finding one, I just stopped and decided to try and start up a new one instead. One of the first I thought of, when being reminded of great of powerful singing scenes in films, did remember one that I saw last summer, and through the well made/acted british film, The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner (1962). Which I also believe, ended up as one of many other movie themed (in name or characters), Iron Maiden songs. I really liked the film. Maybe even a little more, since I am an avid runner, and there is little as great of having that feeling, when the body and mind works together, to almost "perfection", and you can just run for several hours, without feeling tired or bored. And never really know where you might end up, or how long it might take you, but to have the freedom of just go wherever you want, and not following the clock/rules, just do it your own way, without any stressful situations. Anyway, I guess for the main character, things were pretty much on a whole different kind of a story. Somehow, a few of the scenes/characters, made me think of the gritty 70s british prison drama, Scum, and there is a very powerful singing scene of Jerusalem, in The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, which I thought would be a nice way of starting out the thread/topic with: As a bonus, I have always loved the little cheerful and sweet duet from Steve Martin and Sissy Spacek in hilarious comedy The Man With Two Brains (1983):

As a kid back in the early 90s, I remember watching the Tom & Jerry: The Movie (1992) several times over, when it hit the cinemas. But never quite understood later on, all the negative reviews. Still, I guess having Tom and Jerry speak, did not exactly sit too well with many movie goers. For me, I could not care any less. I still enjoyed re-watching the film/story, and it came with a few catchy songs/numbers, but where specially the sad Robyn's Song always stood out the most.

Hudson hawk, Danny airflow and Bruce Willis Good pick. I saw it last summer, along with The Last Boy Scout and Striking Distance. All very fun and exciting Wills releases, which sadly did not seem to do too well back then, neither with the audience nor the critics. Still, Hudson Hawk seems to be more brought up now, in a positive manner.

I was kind of "let down", the first time I heard the original version of Beauty and the Beast (1991).
I remember when it first arrived on DVD, back when it was re-released along with a VHS copy, in fall of 2002. So secure that the VHS would still live on, for years to come, I ended up with the tape, not the DVD. And in classic Disney style, they soon snatched the film away again from physical stores, and back into their "vault". And it was not until summer of 2005, when I found the same 2002 copy, but now on DVD. I had always seen the norwegian version, so it was quite different hearing the english one. Not bad, but the singing part, I always felt were a bit "warmer" sung by Wenche Foss, rather than Angela Lansbury. But then again, nostalgia and sweet memories from the childhood, might have something to do with that as well. Still, my favorite song/singing from the film, is the Wenche Foss one, called Kjærlighetens Sang:

Peter Jacksons gave us some hilarious and uforgettable black/dark comedies during his earlier and more gory days, and along with Braindead aka Dead Alive (1992), few have given me as many laughs, as Meet the Feebles (1989):

The Tri-Lambs and Omega Mu's sure knew how to throw a party back then. Not sure which one of the songs from either films I love more, but both are still damn good and catchy songs.

Rock legend, Sammi Curr returns back to his old school, during a Halloween party, and suddenly begins to zap his audience into oblivion. One of the funniest parts, is when right after one of the fans gets zapped, another one right afterwards steps up and take over the place, where the former fan stood. Trick or Treat (1986) sure turned out to be a fun little horror film, with a solid soundtrack by Fastway.
Another "classic" rock and roll horror themed film of the 80s, was done with more less a "nothing" budget, but still managed to be very funny, and contain a few catchy song numbers as well.

Too bad the clip ends where it does. In the film the camera shifts to the American destroyer where the puzzled sonar operator says, "Sir, they're having a ball down there."

I thought for sure you were going to mention Top Gun. That's a great one too. Jaws and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly were just the first two that came to mind.
