They ran out of the regular mac & cheese I get, which is Velveeta shells, my fave.
So I ended up getting Kraft Mac & Cheese, and tried the triple cheese (which uses a similar liquid pouch as opposed to a powder), but what so much comes down to is those darn elbow pasta shapes.
It made me really appreciate the little shells from Velveeta.
The elbows are way too slippery and keep falling off the fork.

I just cook Stouffer's Mac and Cheese, its very soft and they have both the baked and the regular also they have the mac with meat sauce, very good. When I used to cok it from the box, I preferred the shells.

Shells are wonderful for any thick sauce. They're bite-size, and the sauce fills them, to become delightful little morsels. They're my favorite with Bolognese.

I hear ya. Elbows are terrible for mac chee, as my daughter used to call it.
I have to eat gluten free now. Finding an edible GF pasta was a years-long adventure. An edible GF mac and cheese was hopeless, I feared.
Then I found Bionaturae rice and lentil pasta. Made in Italy. The lentils are without taste, but add a toothsome texture without being too tough. My preferred shape is fusili. Talk about little places for sauce to nestle! I get it from Amazon.
I use it to make my own mac chee. Powdered white cheddar cheese from Hoosier Farms, available from Amazon. It makes a suitable box mac and cheese. Dress it up with sauteed onions and bacon bits, shredded white cheddar, and top it with buttered crumbs for a serious casserole to accompany a main course.

They're rough, coarse, and irritating.

They're rough, coarse, and irritating. I have always been told to keep mine off the table so I never serve them.

Wow, so many shell lovers here. I'm shocked. Shell shocked!

To really appreciate the elbow mac and cheese you have to grow up poor like I did.

I'm obtuse about pasta shapes. For me they all seem equivalent, except for really thin and thick spaghetti.

I'm obtuse about pasta shapes. For me they all seem equivalent, except for really thin and thick spaghetti. For some reason, I like certain pasta with certain toppings/ingredients. Apart from the obvious fact that lasagna only goes with one kind of noodle, I think linguine is the pasta for clam sauce, egg noodles the only choice for beef stroganoff, angel hair for scampi, shells for pasta salad and elbows the only choice for mac and cheese or chili mac.
