We saw all kinds of high school movies during the 90s. They usually had something memorable, whether it was positive or negative. I wish I could say the same thing about DRIVE ME CRAZY. Seriously, I can't emphasize how bland the plot and the characters are. The scenes go by with no life. Even the vocals heard during The Donnas' rendition of KEEP ON LOVING YOU are languid. While we're on that subject, this tune is sort of the movie's theme. Not only is this cover performed during the climax, but in an earlier scene, the protagonists (Nicole Maris and Chase Hammond, 2 neighbors who pretend to be a couple) listen to REO Speedwagon's original on the car's radio and sing along. So... Why wasn't the movie named after that one instead of (YOU DRIVE ME) CRAZY, which is included in a way that feels like an afterthought? No, it didn't have to be a long sequence resembling a music video à la Edgar Wright, but to have the track playing in the background for a short amount of time when Nicole and Chase arrive at a party?! After I finished, I read that this was in fact a last minute decision. The title was originally going to be NEXT TO YOU until they decided to cash in on Britney Spears' success. Granted, that title is more generic, but I'm sure there could've been a middle ground. And why omit the word YOU? Is it supposed to be an affirmation or a request? 1/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog.

I've generally steered clear of anything I know to feature Adrian Grenier.
