Today, they are showing a marathon on AMC. Over and Over.
I love this movie. I think it’s Bill Murray’s best film.
The older I get, the more amazing I realize his performance is. To be able to convincingly pull off the range he does, it’s underrated. The Prima Donna, the sarcasm, the existential depression, the charming good guy, the romantic lover, the sleazy guy trying to get laid, etc... and each persona seems natural and it’s believable.
Not to mention, the film is the same day over and over, yet it never gets boring. This is truly a masterpiece film. I can’t find a flaw. I hope it gets the same treatment as “It’s a Wonderful Life” in the future.
10/10. Will watch twice today.

Probably a minority opinion but I can't stand Bill Murray. He gives the same unfunny tired smug performance in everything. One of the most overrated and over-hyped actors out there.
He's not funny, he's crap IMO.

In this movie, he shows incredible range.

Lol Well I take pride living in a town that was a part of a film that is now a memorable 1990's film. And I'm sure fans of the film get a kick from seeing the pictures. I can remember watching some of the filmming when I was little. I remember Bill Murray once getting a cookie from a local bakery near the set during a break from filming.

Leonard Maltin Movie Guide Review:
Groundhog Day (1993) - 3.5 out of 4 stars
"Smug TV weatherman Murray goes to Punxsutawny, Pa., to cover the Groundhog Day ceremony and finds himself trapped in a daily replay of the same 24 hours. Near classic comedy-fantasy improves on each viewing, with endless twists and turns that are funny, moving, and even profound. Murray, perfectly cast, provides just the right combination of edginess and incipient humanity. Director-cowriter Ramis has a brief scene as a local neurologist."

It was a pretty novel concept for its time and very well written. Murray also gives a solid performance.

He's really only as good as whoever is writing for him. Having said that, I do think Groundhog Day is a very good film, and features his best performance.

I hear a good performance from Murray that is rarely mentioned is him playing FDR in "Hyde Park on Hudson".

One of the better "modern" Hollywood comedies. Clever, well written and well made. Murray is perfect in the lead.

I can't picture anyone else as Phil other than Murray. He had the right touch for the role. Also, probably the best movie for Harold Ramis as a director.

I haven't seen it in a while and I didn't watch it today either, but I always remember enjoying. Definitely one of Murray's best for sure.
