My name is one of those that lends itself to almost countless nicknames. And, the international spelling/pronunciation is said to have 50 "plus," variations. A couple of nicknames were bestowed upon me, by family, when I was very little. And, over the years, I've tapped into others, depending on the whim-of-age, or other circumstances. In college, at "orientation," someone asked me my name. A very short, one syllable name came out of my mouth, and has stuck. Someone asked me if that experience threw me into an "identity crisis." It hasn't. I like to think that it has shown me to be adaptable. BTW, my parents told me that when I was about 4, I demanded to be called "Jane." That 50 year old reference. Lol I relate. When asked my name like at El Pollo Loco, I look at the person. If they are under 40 I tell them my name is Liz. There is NO way young people would ever be able to spell nor read my name. You'd have no problem. Lol

A friend of mine changed his name during his 20s for reasons so convoluted I will avoid repeating them here but, because the story is so convoluted, he wrote it out and printed 100+ copies to avoid having to tell the same story 100+ times.
