Harwich or Chatham, Massachusetts. I love it there. I do like where I live, but it's getting crazy crowded, too many cars. I know the areas I mentioned do have an influx of tourists during the Summer months, but I can live with that. I like how relaxing it is, proximity to the water and the beauty of the area. If I could, I'd have a house where I currently live, and a home in Harwich or Chatham - I'd split living 6 months each, doing Winter in NJ.
I would NEVER live in Florida, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, any state that didn't have an ocean bordering it, or in a humid, grossly hot area in the Summer.

Santa Barbara, CA. It's close enough to LA but I'm content to living in the Puget Sound area. Hawaii would be good too, it is my birth state with half of my relatives still there. But Hawaii is not a state that has much variety for career opportunities that can pay the cost (housing) of living there.

Alaska sounds good to me. I've never been to Alaska but that's one state that I have always wanted to visit. Not for a few weeks, but at least for six months or so to get a real feelings for what it's like. The beauty is breathtaking.
