The Bride of Frankenstein. It's just perfect in every way.

Difficult to settle on just one.
Those in competition are (in no particular order):
Bride of Frankenstein King Kong (1933) Phantom of the Opera (1925) Island of Lost Souls The Body Snatcher The Exorcist The Fly (1986) Bram Stoker's Dracula
I've left out those titles that are primarily science fiction with horrific overtones, and that includes films like The Thing (1951). Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) and Alien/Aliens

Ironically my 2 favorite movies can be considered horror movies. I say ironically, because I am generally not a big fan of the genre. The Shining is definitely horror and The Silence of the Lambs can be seen as horror. I don't consider the latter a horror movie, but many people do.

Kind of depends on what one calls a horror film. The Bad Seed or Silence of the Lambs would top if they count. Otherwise, Jaws would be next in line if that counts. Going beyond that, it gets even more complicated... If you consider The Bad Seed, Jaws and The Silence of the Lambs horror movies then they are. I have always considered The Silence of the Lambs a crime thriller with horror elements rather than a flat-out horror movie. I have less issue with calling The Bad Seed and Jaws horror movies, though I would push back a bit on those too. I think it just depends on personal opinion. Some people who consider The Silence of the Lambs a horror movie, don't consider Se7en a horror movie and some people do consider Se7en a horror movies, so where the line is is definitely debatable.
