What do you think happens after you die?
Nothing? A deep sleep?
Reincarnation?
If you believe in heaven - surely you believe in hell, no?
Where do you think you're going? What do you think each is like?
The thought of 'nothingness' scares me to an extent. But why should it?
Personally I think I'll be in purgatory atoning for my sins before I ascend to heaven

It's gonna be just like it was before you were conceived.
Live is either finite or it is infinite. If it is infinite, where were you 200 years ago?

That thought scares me - 'It's gonna be just like it was before you were conceived.'
Because I don't remember much
Ever experience Deja Vu?
200 years ago I believe I was in Ireland during the Potato Crops Failure of 1821
But I could have whale hunting off of Newfoundland living on a ship as a seafarer
It's blurry sometimes

I have heard that deja vu is a memory filing error.

This is also my fear
At times I struggle with my faith and think -
Why not just live it up and party?
Drink, eat and be merry

But is this really something to fear?
It's just a forever sleep
I'll be dead

I noticed the second part of your question.
I think death means you no longer exist at all.

It is irrational to fear non-existence imo. Not liking the idea is different. There is a plus side. No possibility of going to Hell.

I noticed the second part of your question. I think death means you no longer exist at all. How do you feel about this?
Does it disturb/sadden you?
Or are you content with it and just try to live the happiest most productive life you can?

The idea that I will one day no longer exist is sad, yes. I simply accept it.

It scares just about everyone. Evolution has given you the will to live and the will to procreate. Those that don’t have those traits are less likely to live to a ripe old age and less likely to pass on their genes. The “scare” gene has a higher likelihood of being passed down and down and down. (Just like the beauty gene has a higher chance of inheritance than the genes of the ugly-naked guy that lives next door.) Those that get really scared turn to anyone that promises them eternal life. Voila, religion is born. The beauty of religion is that if they're wrong, you won't be able to sue them for false promises.

There are people who have no fear of death, but I realize you are speaking generally. I have very little fear of death, but I still have the will to keep living. I have no will to procreate though. Evolution skipped over that with me.

I believe in reincarnation. I don't have any past life memories about being Cleopatra or anything, but it just makes sense to me, basically as a form of spiritual evolution. I suppose the main reason I believe in it is through observing people. There are some who are clearly young souls, very shallow and materialistic, who live life is full of drama and chaos. And some seem to be old souls, more deep and wise and self-possessed, even a bit world weary. I don't label people based on skin color or superficial traits, but I do tend to categorize them based on soul age. For the ones I view as younger souls, I usually try to be a bit more understanding. They're still learning about life, just like the rest of us. We all have our own challenges and lessons to learn. I find that reincarnation makes me less judgmental and more tolerant of others, so I consider it to be a positive belief.
I do believe that eventually we'll get off this merry-go-round and move on to the next thing, whatever it may be, but it only happens after we've learned all there is to know about being human. In that respect, it's better to seek wisdom than riches.

I used to be a big horror fan - and was thinking -
If a vampire had promised me eternal life - would I take it?
But then thought - if there were in fact vampires that could promise me eternal life - there would surely have to be a heaven, no?
And I'd rather go the heaven route

I feel similar
Our souls move on to others bodies; however eventually we move on to a form of heaven or hell
I then ponder - how would I ever know if I was dead?
Ever see The Sixth Sense or Jacob's Ladder - i.e. they're truly dead all along?
Part of me finds myself questioning if I am dead right now and am living in purgatory
I mean - surely this can't be heaven; however I wouldn't call it hell either - has to be a reason I'm here, no?

I have no intention to convert anyone. This is just part of my beliefs and worldview. This begs the question - what went wrong with the people with "young souls?" Have they not reincarnated as many times as the old souls and where is the beginning? If the reincarnation is eternal then everybody would have reincarnated the same amount of times. I didn't think you were trying to convert anyone. I was just sharing my own issue with your reasoning and hoping for clarification.
