Little-known sports/biography movie about MLB legend Ty Cobb and sportswriter Al Stump. Tommy Lee Jones stars in the film. I enjoyed it, although the accuracy of the portrayal of Cobb has always been a hot topic.

I remember they used to show this on HBO a lot when I was a kid. Pretty sure I watched it, but I don't remember it very well.

Hadn’t seen it yet. Apparently Stump exaggerated quite a bit.

Saw some of it. TL Jones was remarkable but the character was so off-putting.
Stump apparently wrote two version of the Cobb story, one hagiographical, the other quite the opposite,.

Great film! I love the early part of the film with Cobb and Stumpy tearing down the mountain in a 59 Imperial and a mid 50s Buick. I read that they were 4x4 Suburban chassis with the vintage bodies mounted on them.
One of the better 1990s baseball films. Tommy Lee Jones was great. I felt sorry for Cobb near the end when none of his old fellow baseball players wanted to spend time with him.
