I don't know if people here would recommend it or not would ye reccoomend? I still haven't seen it, although i almost bought it today, but i was too embarrased to buy it because it's old. Just couldn't bring myself to bring it to the counter.
Although i had no problem buying bride of frankenstein and dracula recently. Because they had them at the grocery store, so i could just use the self checkout isle. So therefore it was easier to buy it at that store.

I saw it opening day in Sydney 1974. I went back the next day with a different group of friends. The theatre was packed both times. The audience applauded at the end both times, something I have only experienced about 3 times in my life.

I had the same problem with a Rembrandt once.

It’s not as old as it looks. They were just pretending it was made in 1936.

That's a movie which has kind of fallen off the radar, like Cabaret, used to get a lot more reference in media. Tv showings... I'd always see posters for them in home video news magazines or Box Office chart reference.
It used to be about as prominently mentioned as the Godfather was.

Never, ever be embarrassed to buy a movie just because it's old. If an old movie interests you, then go for it.

When Newman received the script for the film, as usual he made comments on the page as he read it.
His notations along the way read: 'Great' / 'Hilarious' / 'Wow'
Then he got to the next to last page and wrote -- 'You Jerk!'
Fortunately he read the last page and immediately signed on.

I saw it when I was ten, and while I don't remember the film that well, I fell in love with the soundtrack and got a cassette tape of it. I still have that tape, and it still plays well. I guess I should get around to seeing the movie again; maybe I'll understand the plot of it a little more as an adult. It's Newman and Redford, come on.

It’s very entertaining. A lot of times these days that matters more to me than “ meaningful” cinema. Redford has a lot of energy and physical presence, Newman has a lot of fun being wry. The rest of the cast is perfectly in tune, playing neither too big nor too small for the place they occupy.

It's a very good watch with a great cast, including supporting characters. Love the way it evolves. Love the ending. Thoroughly enjoyable. Don't get why anyone would be embarrassed buying it. It's not like you're purchase sleazy porn.

:format(jpeg):mode_rgb():quality(90)/discogs-images/R-1585386-1457636978-6628.jpeg.jpg) I had the soundtrack long before I watched the movie, it took me until the early 1980's to actually watch the movie and it was love at first sight. Still I have wondered how much the sting actually cost, and if it in money actually payed off economically, or was it just about getting even... Remember at around that time in the 1980's watching The Sting II, lesser said about that movie the better.
