I am not overly concerned about how Wonder Woman does at the box office. Truth be told, I find it mildly disturbing that so many people enjoy playing the role of amateur Hollywood Accountant in service of counting other people's money. I'm sure WW will be a hit, however; I think hardline Marvel fans should consider seeing it too (think Sunday morning matinée) because this Amazon is going to set the tone for our beloved Captain (and probably all female-led superhero films that follow).
If this movie tanks, we can look forward to massive Captain Marvel "reshoots" that feature a certain mustachioed, technophile cracking wise during an alien invasion. That would not be good.
Also, if there were ever the slimmest chance of a Black Widow movie happening, Wonder Woman's demise would turn her funeral into a mass grave. In summary, if you're a True Believer, don't be shortsighted, go see Wonder Woman.
For this particular cause, the fandoms must unite. The DCEU and MCU's financial health are irrevocably tied to the overall health of the genre. The genre must survive.

I will go see it. The trailers look more than fine. To say Im excited for it is a bit too much because the previous outings of the DCEU have let me down but I have hope this one may turn things around for them a bit.
JL on the other hand reminded me a lot of BvS and that..... makes me want to say some old ladies name....

That's the first Thor/Captain Amerifca range, which is solid for Wonder Woman. It doesn't have the Batman/Superman factor BvS had, nor the Joker/Harley Quinn factor Suicide Sqaud had. Plus Gal Gadot or Chris Pine aren't particular box office stars, so $65 million is a good number, but I wouldn't be surprised if it reached $70 million.

I don't care for those characters but, I know a lot of other comic book fans do. I wish them and WB all the best. SaveSave

I'm going to see it on principle because the original superheroine is long long long long long long long overdue for this big screen big budget Hollywood treatment.

It should do fine BO wise. It only cost at the most what? Like $120M? Hopefully if it does well critically as well as financially, it will get through WB's thick skulls that less is more.

I think WW will be the best DCEU movie yet, probably better than JLA as well... but it won't be quite as good as the best MCU movies. My guess is it will be on par with the middle-quality MCU movies like Ant-man or CATFA... which would still be a huge step forward for DCEU.
I do want it to do well, and to be honest I hope it does so well that Wonder Woman will be the new face of DC instead of Batman. I also hope that Aquaman does so well so that the top 2 superheroes of the DCEU becomes Wonder Woman and Aquaman instead of Superman and Batman.

Well for starts I'm planning on seeing it with my wife since she is really keen to watch it, but if I didn't see it, it would be out of not supporting the DCU product moreso than not supporting WW. I simply don't believe in supporting poor quality work, and I give you the New York Knicks as a prime example of that selling out every game doesn't make the product any better.
However I have to say, that I don't believe in this Marvel needs DC line of reasoning. If DC's only function is simultaneously suck while providing a motivation for the MCU to excel, then I just don't know that it's all that necessary. Of course I felt the same way about the WWF before they beat WCW into the ground and have been spiraling down for over 15 years since. So, IDK. Maybe using DC as a pool floatie while they gasp for air is the best way to keep the MCU floating smoothly right on along.

Nnnooo, they were slowly but steadily declining for ten/twelve years after WCW went under; they've been fucking PLUMMETING for the past three or four. It's not the best comparison. Edit: I'm talking in terms of ratings; if you're talking creatively? Yeah, they've been spiraling down for over fifteen years since.

This is how I feel about JL and Affleck's Batman. But WW looks different enough to make me believe it's a different product altogether. Yes, it is part of the same "universe" but from all I've heard the director has had a lot of creative control and it is more or less an isolated entry. It doesn't look or feel like the previous 3 DC outings. Plus, I think WB is smart enough to know that WW is a very very important character to get right. Not that Supes or Batman aren't... But we've seen them on screen before multiple times in numerous incarnations while this is WW's debut. They deliberately tried to make Supes different (which failed IMO) and with WW it seems that they're doing the opposite: staying absolutely true to the source material in tone and character. And after all there has only been one DC movie not directed by Snyder so it's still premature to just assume all the other solo movies will be awful. Edit: I was quoting the line about boycotting DC movies. Not sure why it didn't show up...

WW herself in the trailer even says how ugly England looks. It looks very similar if you ask me.
But I do agree the trailer is more promising. But I've seen good trailers for shit films before, so we'll see.

London might look grey but WW at least has a lot of color, whereas Superman, Batman and WW all had muted colors in BvS. WW's homeland looks beautiful, which implies that the greyness is specific only to London. The humor seems a lot more spot on, reminiscent of Thor's fish out of water scenarios. And the fight scenes look more creative and at least shot with decent lighting.

Going to try and see it opening weekend. She's my second favorite DC character, so I REALLY want this film to be good. So I'll throw my support. If it ends up being another mess like Suicide Squad, than I might just abandoned ship.

Well, by "look" I didn't necessarily mean literally. But even visually it does look very different. That grey you describe is actually a heavy use of blue color timing, which I agree is somewhat ugly and I hate when movies use it, but it is a quite different digital coloring technique then the desaturated look of MoS and BvS.

WW uses a lot of blue color timing, a technique commonly used in period pieces. Ridley Scott used it in a lot of his Mid Ages movies. It's one way of making a movie look like it takes place in the past... Which of course makes zero sense if you think about it but it's purely psychological. I do prefer the technique used in CA First Avenger which is to basically warm the look of the film, but that also gives a very different tone that maybe didn't work well with this script. Im not a huge fan of it, but it certainly is a different look from BvS and MoS which were just heavily tweaked and desaturated with digital color timing. Also the MCU is not innocent when it comes to ugly color timing either. Both Avengers movies make excessive use of the much over played orange and teal digital look. WW has a lot of this same look too in the origin scenes.
