I'd argue that their filmography has more misses than hits, but I still hate the idea of closing an entire studio. Especially if the main reason is "We're acquiring things to make money out of them, but we don't actually want them to be part of our brand."

I'm suprised they're closing it down now, they could probably squeeze out at least one more Ice Age film before calling it quits.

I think it’s smarter to keep them open and use their brand name. I’m sure there is a following. Then just improve the product. I enjoyed some of their children films with my son when he was younger. Ferdinand The Peanuts Movie Rio Are solid. And better than some Disney animated film IMHo. Especially the Peanuts Movie.

I wish that it didn't happen but considering the task of managing this many studios and the cost cutting due to Covid losses I'm not entirely surprised.

Blue Sky Studios was hardly ever one of my favorite animation studios, but they produced some quality films like Ice Age and The Peanuts Movie. So, it's sad to read that hundreds of artists are out of work and that an interesting project titled Nimona will never see the light of day. I'm suprised they're closing it down now, they could probably squeeze out at least one more Ice Age film before calling it quits. Oddly enough, they were going to. At the Disney Investors Day, they announced a new Ice Age film subtitled Adventures of Buck Wild, which was going to be streaming on Disney+ in 2022. With news of the studio closing down, I assume the project is dormant.

That’s kind of a bummer. Not the best animation studio but they made some quite good movies.
