Exactly. The comparison is exaggerated and melodramatic. People love to play victim. It’s frustrating that so many pretend that for the past four years we haven’t heard countless leftist celebs wallowing in their mansions and yachts talking about how the “fascist” leader of America was just as bad as Hitler or the most racist president in US history and all that other nonsense. How many of them lost their jobs for that? None, and rightfully so. One of the above users used the word "retarded." I think said user should be banned from IMDB 2. That is a joke btw, but there are people who would actually call for that user to be banned for using that word. I’m someone who takes offence at the misuse of terms like “retarded” and occasionally let people know but I leave it at that. If Disney want to punish her they make her character wear surgical masks and only be addressed through non binary pronouns.

Shouldn't this be a thread on TV General? What Gina said reminds me of those Christians who claim that Atheists are out to destroy them. Not only is this shameful victimization; it redirects the focus of the conversation. Whenever a person goes after another person whose political and/or religion beliefs are conservative, it's not because "Oooh! Different! Me no like!" It's because said beliefs tend to be toxic and derogatory. It's a way of fighting against close-mindedness. A similar kind of mentality that caused the Holocaust. That's right: Gina's comparison is more than just inaccurate. It's completely backwards. I think the trans activists were angry because she refused to “state her pronouns”, which in their warped mind makes her “transphobic”. No, a lot of celebrities don't do that either. The problem with Gina is that she wrote a parody of that on her profile, which was an insult. Now if she meant it literally that would be a different thing, but I didn't read it as literal. It was EXAGGERATION. The comparison is to what starts the process btw. That's not an excuse. Contrary to popular belief, you can't win an argument with an analogy that doesn't apply. Gina could've made her point without offensive comparisons. there are a lot of very nervous and angry people out there at the moment that feel scared to even admit they voted for Trump and stuff like that. Fear of losing their jobs etc. Her being fired is an example of this very thing. From day 1, Trump made his ideologies clear. They're rooted in hatred, so anyone who supports him, supports all the crimes against humanity that were influenced by him. So... No, that's not something to be proud about. Also, you're making it sound like Gina causally mentioned being a Trump supporter while chatting with her colleagues at the office, only to then be sent to her boss' office. No, what she said was more extreme and she did so as a public statement. What happened to educating people and helping them grow as a person? Why is it that Hollywood is quick to forgive drug addicts and sex addicts etc... as long as they get rehab and therapy. But, you can’t forgive someone for making a comment? I know this is a new comment, but maybe having her talk to someone and educate her on this subject? What are you talking about? She's been saying controversial things for a while now and LucasFilm was very patient. She was given more than one chance and she refused to change. If anything, she got worse.

This is a "fuck around and find out" moment for Gina Carano. There is no way Disney execs didn't contact her management team and tell them they better keep their client in check or they'll have no choice but to terminate her contract, and there's no way her management team didn't relay that ultimatum to her. This role was a once in a lifetime chance for her. Let's remember her career was launched in a Peter Soderbergh movie where 100% of her lines were dubbed because she can't act. After that she went through a stream of straight to video and bit part roles before landing Mandalorian. This was her chance, she could've taken it seriously like Dave Bautista took Guardians of the Galaxy. Everybody questioned that casting until they saw the movie and it's led to a thriving career for him. She should've seized this opportunity, taken time to develop as an actor (there was no progress between the first two seasons), and hired a publicist team to handle her online presence to promote her, and the result could've been her own spin-off show, or even movie appearances. Cara Dune is a great character and could've developed into an all-time character for fans, and now it's over for her and from her own doing. She fucked around and found out.

It’s not like she’s saying to hurt people, or calling people racial slurs, or degrading people. Saying “kill these folks” or something like that.
How soft is our society getting? Geez, people on both sides of the political aisle need to get thicker skin. The world isn’t fair or perfect. People are going to disagree with you.

It’s not like she’s saying to hurt people, or calling people racial slurs, or degrading people. She, did actually. She used her influential celebrity status to encourage people to not wear masks (and risk their lives), she mocked the very idea of gender identity, and she compared herself to discriminatory murder victims.

Rule #1 - never mentions the jews unless its to kiss their ass I understand, but it’s the context. She was just saying it’s a slippery slope. And she isn’t wrong. I’m not saying the Progressive Dems will become the Nazi party. I’m saying it starts with cancel culture, erasing the past, tearing down monuments and art, film etc... then hating people who disagree with you. Etc... 1984

I don't watch childish Star Wars crap but reading through Carano's social media posts, she seems arrogant and really stupid. The left and right are equally stupid in what they say. Self-righteous idiots are on both sides. She was running her mouth too much and she payed the price. Phew it's good Gina doesn't watch childish crap cobra Kai shows and karate kid she would have been imprisoned for stupidity on top of her Twitter ban.

Bro read the line above the part you bolded. That’s exactly what I said. And again, I believe exactly *zero* of them should be fired and ostracized from the popular Hollywood community for it (as I put below the bolded section). But that’s what happened to Carano. If you agree the comparison doesn't make sense then why are you agreeing with movieman who is agreeing with her (only with the conceit that it's "exaggerated" as opposed to "pretty stupid")? The only point I was agreeing with moviemouth on were the words “Point proven” after the previous poster said it was stupid and she should not have said the things but she should not have been fired... The whole point is that the previous poster thought she was being an idiot but he still thinks the firing is absurd. That was my whole point.

Dave Bautista spends most of his time on social media trashing the right, be they politicians, fellow performers, and fans of his work - who he makes quite clear he does not want them to support him. He has said a lot of very ugly things and has acted like a bully a lot of the time but he is not jeopardy of losing any work, in fact he has Army of the Dead coming to Netflix which is meant to launch a franchise and he's going to be one of its faces. Disney also employs many more people who have say much worse things and present even less professional attitudes towards peers and happily alienate consumers, but because their beliefs are aligned with the leftist politics they get a pass mostly - Chuck Wendig got fired from writing Star Wars novels in late 2018.

To be honest you are much more likely to pay the price if you are right leaning than you are left leaning. Billy Eichner has advocated for violence against Trump supporters for the last four years he is no jeopardy of losing work and one can assume he'll definitely be brought back to voice Timon in the next Lion King if they have the character in it.

Morons are on both sides. She did, but its not that common to see a lefty receive that much flack by the mainstream.

Hey Disney, might wanna look at this. Based on your own dumb standards, Mr. Pascal should be hitting the road too...
(Also pretty funny that his "America, 2018" pic is neither in America nor from 2018 - it's from 2010)
