Dave Bautista spends most of his time on social media trashing the right, be they politicians, fellow performers, and fans of his work - who he makes quite clear he does not want them to support him. He has said a lot of very ugly things and has acted like a bully a lot of the time but he is not jeopardy of losing any work, in fact he has Army of the Dead coming to Netflix which is meant to launch a franchise and he's going to be one of its faces. Disney also employs many more people who have say much worse things and present even less professional attitudes towards peers and happily alienate consumers, but because their beliefs are aligned with the leftist politics they get a pass mostly - Chuck Wendig got fired from writing Star Wars novels in late 2018. Disney is deeply capitalist, they have risk analysts who determine these things. They see the trends, they predict trends, they know what hurts sales and what doesn't and what will in the future. Gina Carrano's social media behavior was obviously deemed more offensive and more higher risk than Dave Bautista. Frankly, I've never seen a Bautista tweet go viral, because the young generations don't care about him trashing conservatives, they care about Gina Carano trashing trans people, being anti-mask and comparing republicans to Jews in Nazi Germany was the final straw. Is it fair? I guess it's as fair as capitalism can be. Don't like it? Push for Twitter and Facebook to become public utilities so they're subject to First Amendment rights, push for the Fairness Doctrine so your views have equal time in the public forum, push for Net Neutrality for equal access. I don't think you will, but they'd certainly help your cause. Bautista is given a pass because he's of the similar political ideology as the majority of the mainstream entertainment complex and big tech, the more he says hateful things about conservatives the more gold stars he is rewarded basically - even if it makes him look like a giant hypocrite as World Wrestling Entertainment, which has strong ties to Donald Trump, signed his checks for years, and still do occasionally. Actor and director Nick Searcy who has been working in the industry for decades has gone on record to say that because the industry is very left leaning and competitive to say anything negative about conservative beliefs or politicians or peers in the industry is basically a resume enhancement, many of these companies don't care if an employee says something that will turn away other sides of the political spectrum long as they seem well and good for the left side of things, even if they show no ounce of class in expressing their views - look at Chrissy Teigen, writes some of the dumbest, and sometimes most disgusting things you'll probably find but she has never been dropped by any sponsorships. Carano didn't trash transgenders, asked fair questions about COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions, and shared a good food-for-thought post that is definitely not something to write off with the way the political spectrum is today - extreme? Absolutely, but nothing to roll eyes over at. Firing Gina Carano from Star Wars is going to blow up in Lucasfilm's face, already dozens of people are cancelling their Disney+ accounts and intend to stop investing into their content for the time being to make a point, and if they do bring back the character but with a new actress much fewer people than they would like to admit are going to accept it.

I’m all for people staying off Twitter. The world would be a better place if that toxic cesspool didn’t exist. I think if the app was shut down the world would become a better place. It used to be so much fun ten years ago, not anymore.

Either way, I'm not sure why that's important regardless.

What are you talking about? She's been saying controversial things for a while now and LucasFilm was very patient. She was given more than one chance and she refused to change. If anything, she got worse.
It’s not like she’s saying to hurt people, or calling people racial slurs, or degrading people. Saying “kill these folks” or something like that. How soft is our society getting? Geez, people on both sides of the political aisle need to get thicker skin. The world isn’t fair or perfect. People are going to disagree with you.
except all of the content was pointed towards not wearing masks, which last time i checked.... can very well kill you.....

Gee I don't know maybe because people can't afford not to practice safety right now with a deadly variant of virus spreading? and maybe thinking twice about comparing an actual group of people who were victimized to a group who weren't? maybe reading the room?. but your an apologist thats okay

I guess I’m used to living in Florida. Where no one is wearing masks and partying at the beach.

Where no one is wearing masks and partying at the beach. its not like they fired Pascal himself here, they fired an actress playing a supporting character which quite honestly is very expendable.

And again there’s been worse things I’ve seen on Twitter. AOC literally said a few months ago that all Trump supporters should be on a list....unmmmm WHAT???

I'm not a political poster really so I don't know about such games. My only point here is that people's social media posts and jobs should be separate, period. I don't see anything wrong with that, people should be allowed to do and say what they want freely as long as they aren't directing hurting anyone else.

Even before the pandemic. I knew someone who died from it not too long ago.
