Good, despite the hint of sarcasm, I'll take that as you agreeing with me. Now stop trying to accuse me of something I'm not, you don't even know me. can't tell whether your naive or coy. I guess the best way to put it is I'm an optimist. I want to believe people have the best intentions no matter how silly they get. Granted, that doesn't necessarily make me naive, I get how terrible the world largely is. But I've never understood this two side political debate, real people don't fit into either of the so called major sides.

Help me out here. “Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views.” If I am reading that correctly she is saying that Nazi propaganda was put out to make non-Jewish German's hate Jews and the point was that it made it easier for the Nazi's to achieve their end goal. Why is this angering people? What people are in fact angry about is that she is comparing the current political climate to the start of the holocaust and to not fall into the trap of hating eachother and calling for silencing of opinions you dislike and ending people's lives because they have a different perspective. The irony of the response in the article is priceless. We want Gina Corano's career ended because of things and stuff. That one doesn’t sound particularly offensive to me. She did say some pretty stupid anti-mask stuff and covid-related stuff earlier though. And I think the trans activists were angry because she refused to “state her pronouns”, which in their warped mind makes her “transphobic”. Anyway, shame. I liked her character in ‘The Mandalorian’. She didn't just refuse to state her pronouns (which I, personally, support her choice to use them or not), she also seems to be mocking people who do use them.

I used to defend republicans daily, but then I woke up and realized both parties are in it for themselves. Just wish more people woke up to that.

Bautista is given a pass because he's of the similar political ideology as the majority of the mainstream entertainment complex and big tech No, as I explained in a previous post, anti-conservative speech tends to be in defense after a Republican, religious fanatic, etc. has said something toxic or derogatory. If you have any examples where the left-wing and/or Atheist started it, let me know. Carano didn't trash transgenders, asked fair questions about COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions, and shared a good food-for-thought post that is definitely not something to write off with the way the political spectrum is today - extreme? Absolutely, but nothing to roll eyes over at. Firing Gina Carano from Star Wars is going to blow up in Lucasfilm's face, already dozens of people are cancelling their Disney+ accounts and intend to stop investing into their content for the time being to make a point, and if they do bring back the character but with a new actress much fewer people than they would like to admit are going to accept it. Do you have any idea how often people write things like that on IMDB reviews? It's actually funny how transparently phony they are. "I've been watching this show for years and I've never written a review about it until now. I couldn't believe a character would briefly make a comment about something I disagree with that had no effect on the plot. I won't be watching this show anymore." Actually, stop watching THE MANDALORIAN would be one thing, but cancelling the subscription and therefore giving up to the rest of the programming? Who needs customers like that?

Again AOC said all Trump supporters need to be on a list!!! There are people who will praise her for saying that. Just stop dude!!! If you REALLY think Gina wrote (technically she reposted it) something that terrible, YOU NEED TO DIG WAY FUCKING DEEPER!!! I don’t agree with what Gina said, but don’t fucking act like she deserved to lose her job over it. There’s also been thousands of democrats who have open supported open season on Trump supporters and republicans. Some of them are in Congress. I just mentioned AOC, but yet nothing happens to them. You could say “well they’re not gonna go through with it”, or “well people stay stupid shit all the time on Twitter”, BUT THEN WHY ARE THEY NOT THE ONES BEING BANNED? Again I’m not even a Republican or a democrat, but I can see the double standard. Everyone does, but some people act like the democrats can do no wrong.

Jon Faverau was also not happy with the decision of Lucasfilm firing her. He wrote the character with Gina in mind. He has NO plans to recast her. Actually he’s pissed cause now Lucasfilm has just made it 10x harder to work for. Good job Lucasfilm not only did you just piss off millions of fans, you just made Jon’s job tougher.
LUCASFILM EVERYONE!! Give them a round of applause!!!!

A lot of people on this thread has complained about Twitter. Yes, that's where the hashtag started, but Gina's comments originated on Instagram. I do think some of the guidelines don’t make sense, but we’re in a pandemic so nothing really makes sense.

The world is getting way, way too sensitive. Many of us seem to be actively looking for something/anything to be offended by. Tolerance is now a dirty word and seen as a weakness

I'm not getting involved in the political aspect of this argument, but this is just absurd. Dozens of people? You honestly believe Disney is going to lose money over this? Also, why do conservatives like Carano complain about 'cancel culture' and respond by doing the same thing? Boycotting to prove a point is only acceptable when you agree with the cause, I guess.

Tolerance is now a dirty word and seen as a weakness I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm pretty sure people would've reacted the same way decades ago. So also you agree that what the Nazis did was right? Because Nazis did the same thing. How so?

It’s bad on both sides. Conservatives were asking for James Gunn to be fired from Marvel because of some joke he posted on Twitter YEARS AGO!!! Yeah the joke was out there, but anyone that knows Gunn knows he’s got a weird sense of humor so it’s not totally surprising he’d write something like that. Honestly though I think it’s worse with the liberals. They look for anything to be offended by. Then they act like they they’re the good guys and did nothing wrong. Truthfully these twitter posts would go unnoticed if liberals would stop being such babies, but no they don’t. At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if Jon told Lucasfilm to go screw themselves and quit.

Not going to pretend they will lose a lot of money over this, but certainly a percentage and even a small percentage loss isn't seen as good by investors. Because it is fair game, you cancel somebody but give a pass to others who say arguably worse and more divisive things there should be calling out for hypocrisy.

Actually, stop watching THE MANDALORIAN would be one thing, but cancelling the subscription and therefore giving up to the rest of the programming? Who needs customers like that? Dave Bautista has written some pretty rude and unprofessional things on his social media, as have many others like Billy Eichner. Eichner in particular has called for violence against those who do not share his political views and has no problem telling people that if they don't agree with him they are not welcome to enjoy his work as an actor or content creator. Neither Bautista or Eichner are in jeopardy of losing any work in the industry and will definitely work form Disney in the near future. They have both said, and believe me there are a lot of others, much worse than Gina Carano shared to her social media which led to her firing by Lucasfilm. The message with which Carano had shared was how propaganda can wrongly influence a society to where something truly monstrous could inevitably occur by order of politicians and there would be little opposition to it. Think of it as a frog-in-boiling-water situation, you place a frog in a pot of water, you slowly raise the temperature from low to high and the frog without knowing it boils to death. Imagine American society as the frog, and the propaganda from the mainstream media and politicians as the pot, water, and stove. The media and politicians are encouraging the common person to dislike people who who do not think like them politically, the more we as a society accept and go along with their rhetoric the more likely the country could be divided like in, to give a fairly simplified example, Dr. Seus' The Butter Battle Book. This was in line with a message Carano shared back in October letting people know that they should not fall for the propaganda of the media and political rhetoric and stay united and bonded with their loved ones. Any percent of consumers counts, the mindset for most companies is not settle on a specific profit, if they can meet a certain amount then it is great but they would sure would for the profit to reach a higher status.

They have both said, and believe me there are a lot of others, much worse than Gina Carano shared to her social media which led to her firing by Lucasfilm. For example? The message with which Carano had shared was how propaganda can wrongly influence a society to where something truly monstrous could inevitably occur by order of politicians That's exactly what she did. Think of it as a frog-in-boiling-water situation, you place a frog in a pot of water, you slowly raise the temperature from low to high and the frog without knowing it boils to death. Imagine American society as the frog, and the propaganda from the mainstream media and politicians as the pot, water, and stove. As I said in one of my first posts of the thread, there's no point in making analogies that don't apply. Admittedly, yours isn't deplorable like Gina's. The media and politicians are encouraging the common person to dislike people who who do not think like them politically, the more we as a society accept and go along with their rhetoric the more likely the country could be divided Except that Gina made it seem like conservatives were the victims in that situation when it's the other way around. Any percent of consumers counts, the mindset for most companies is not settle on a specific profit, if they can meet a certain amount then it is great but they would sure would for the profit to reach a higher status. I think they're used to having to deal with the toxic side of S.W. fandom.
