They have both said, and believe me there are a lot of others, much worse than Gina Carano shared to her social media which led to her firing by Lucasfilm. For example? The message with which Carano had shared was how propaganda can wrongly influence a society to where something truly monstrous could inevitably occur by order of politicians That's exactly what she did. Think of it as a frog-in-boiling-water situation, you place a frog in a pot of water, you slowly raise the temperature from low to high and the frog without knowing it boils to death. Imagine American society as the frog, and the propaganda from the mainstream media and politicians as the pot, water, and stove. As I said in one of my first posts of the thread, there's no point in making analogies that don't apply. Admittedly, yours isn't deplorable like Gina's. The media and politicians are encouraging the common person to dislike people who who do not think like them politically, the more we as a society accept and go along with their rhetoric the more likely the country could be divided Except that Gina made it seem like conservatives were the victims in that situation when it's the other way around. Any percent of consumers counts, the mindset for most companies is not settle on a specific profit, if they can meet a certain amount then it is great but they would sure would for the profit to reach a higher status. I think they're used to having to deal with the toxic side of S.W. fandom. For examples Dave Bautista has referred to any and all Trump supporters as "MAGATS", has mocked republicans in videos on his Instagram, and last summer displayed some very choice words to Chad Lail who wrestles for the WWE as Jaxson Ryker after they showed support for Trump when the riots were getting out of control over the country and the national guard had to be brought in. Lail is a Christian and a military veteran. Bautista also has shown rather strong dislike towards Dan Crenshaw, another military veteran, and called for people in Texas to vote him out. Billy Eichner has, once again, made it clear that he supports violence against those who vote republican or are/were ever Trump supporters. Several industry people made very ugly comments at the Covington High School students in 2019 and called for them to be doxed and beaten, i.e. one film producer in Jack Morrissey. And least we forget Debra Messing and Eric McCormick wanted lists of names of people who would attend a Trump fundraiser so they could be blacklisted from the entertainment industry. Carano's message was actually a call for reflection and unity, as for right vs. left it does appear these days that if you are right leaning you may have a harder time to make it far in mainstream entertainment, if you are right leaning you have the option to either go with the flow like everyone else or stay quiet. As mentioned, actor and director Nick Searcy has said gone on record to say that because the industry is so cutthroat and left leaning speaking ill of the other side actually can enhance your resume. Here is his a seminar he gave last year about politics in Hollywood - link

judgejosephdredd You listed examples of people fighting back against bigotry in order to create more unity. Gina on the other hand was playing victim while spreading hate and encouraging people to risk their lives.

Disney is deeply capitalist, they have risk analysts who determine these things. They see the trends, they predict trends, they know what hurts sales and what doesn't and what will in the future. Gina Carrano's social media behavior was obviously deemed more offensive and more higher risk than Dave Bautista. Frankly, I've never seen a Bautista tweet go viral, because the young generations don't care about him trashing conservatives, they care about Gina Carano trashing trans people, being anti-mask and comparing republicans to Jews in Nazi Germany was the final straw. Is it fair? I guess it's as fair as capitalism can be. Don't like it? Push for Twitter and Facebook to become public utilities so they're subject to First Amendment rights, push for the Fairness Doctrine so your views have equal time in the public forum, push for Net Neutrality for equal access. I don't think you will, but they'd certainly help your cause. Bautista is given a pass because he's of the similar political ideology as the majority of the mainstream entertainment complex and big tech, the more he says hateful things about conservatives the more gold stars he is rewarded basically - even if it makes him look like a giant hypocrite as World Wrestling Entertainment, which has strong ties to Donald Trump, signed his checks for years, and still do occasionally. Actor and director Nick Searcy who has been working in the industry for decades has gone on record to say that because the industry is very left leaning and competitive to say anything negative about conservative beliefs or politicians or peers in the industry is basically a resume enhancement, many of these companies don't care if an employee says something that will turn away other sides of the political spectrum long as they seem well and good for the left side of things, even if they show no ounce of class in expressing their views - look at Chrissy Teigen, writes some of the dumbest, and sometimes most disgusting things you'll probably find but she has never been dropped by any sponsorships. Carano didn't trash transgenders, asked fair questions about COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions, and shared a good food-for-thought post that is definitely not something to write off with the way the political spectrum is today - extreme? Absolutely, but nothing to roll eyes over at. Firing Gina Carano from Star Wars is going to blow up in Lucasfilm's face, already dozens of people are cancelling their Disney+ accounts and intend to stop investing into their content for the time being to make a point, and if they do bring back the character but with a new actress much fewer people than they would like to admit are going to accept it. I can see you're very emotional and the issue of conservatives in Hollywood is a trigger for you, so I won't comment on much of this, all I can tell you is Hollywood is deeply capitalist and care far more about their success than their niche politics. Only advice I can give to you is to get away from ideology based politics and look at things in a more pragmatic, less victim based way. Can a problem be solved with policy? If yes, then it's worth pursuing, if it can't, just chalk it up as something outside of your control. Sadly there is no government policy that can protect people from being fired for embarrassing their boss on twitter.

They always tend to portray capitalism as evil and socialism as a good, they are hysterically left leaning and are always out there promoting leftist politics in their products which makes their need for profit all the more hilarious. They assume Twitter is the majority of the thinking world, but it isn't. Only a tiny fraction of the consumer population cares about partisan politics and who discusses them publicly, they just want good and consistent quality entertainment. Gina Carano was not some random actress who played a random, disposable supporting character as the backlash has shown, the majority of the Star Wars consumer base likes her and her character, recast you will only please a small fraction of people who also share the belief that Marvel's woeful last attempt at relaunching their New Warriors title was good and effective storytelling and that The CW's Batwoman is quality television.

James Gunn. Victor Salva.
This is why the "they are capitalists" argument is bullshit.
They don't worry about money and public reaction.
Message and control is very important to Disney co.
It's just that child abuse is not a big concern for Disney, being against their political agenda is what matters to them.
If Hollywood was truly capitalist, truly based on popularity, catering to tastes, merit etc, movies would be way better. They would be hiring the best people who understand the audiences the best, instead of the Rose Ticos of the world.

If this were to occur the likes of Gina Carano would have a case that Disney violated her free speech. Do you support the Fairness Doctrine being re-implemented and extended to the internet so that all content under FCC jurisdiction must be presented fairly and with all sides represented. For example, The Young Turks or Rachel Maddow would have to present to audiences an unbiased representation of conservatives view on each subject they cover, and this would also extend to the likes of Ben Shapiro and Tucker Carlson? Would you support Net Neutrality to prevent, what you'd call left wing industries from buying fast lanes of bandwidth, which would take access away from right wing industries internet speed, which would take away net traffic? These are actual policies and things that can be advocated for and enacted into law. Or would all of this fairness be too much for you? Maybe it's just easier whining about things that'll never happen.

I'm not taking a pro or anti stance on capitalism, yet it appears the big studios hide behind a shield of woke progressive ideals and then project out victimhood mentality when someone goes against their grain and agenda as though someone has been hurt, yet it is them that feel hurt by it. Ohhhhhh! We better reprimand our actors who step out of line, otherwise we might lose financial gain and popularity because of them.
It must be real frustrating to be an actor today and be thought controlled by totalitarian liberals.

maybe also not spouting stupid crap?. Or people could just not be so quick to grab their pitchforks and hurt the lives of people who have no bearing on themselves? Just a thought. It is just so easy for people to feel offended these days and then take on board how others are supposed to be feeling as well when they have no darn idea. It is used as a phony crutch to project their own virtue and image in the public eye. I doubt most of the public care, yet they don't want to lose them either. Be woke, or be cut down.
A fan will still be a fan, regardless of a characters real life political leanings. This could possibly have an adverse effect too, by firing a character that the fans want to see.

It's like hating Trump enough to move to Canada but not Mexico. In the case of Disney-they are carried by the name of the founder--but it did not take long for it to be tarnished. By the 1990s people associated Disney with corporate power and legal abuse. Centralized control is bad. There's no upside to it.
Another thing too-is so she is going to now make something for a so-called rightwing film company. Probably with her kicking some liberal ass. But it is also a controlled message situation because they are using the political scandal. Is that what we need? It's too narrow and controlled. There should be content free from such overt political debates and agendas.
It is all politicized now--if you hear about it in the major media. That's part of the problem-if it's not of interest to the gatekeepers, they won't talk about it. It's not good for culture and expression.

They're being unprofessional. Conflict of interests, anyone? Jon Favreau is their friend But they're not talking about Jon. One has to treat a stranger like a friend just because they're the friend of a friend? he helped expand their respective consumer bases I don't think their levels of popularity increased or decreased with the release of this movie. Sure, it grossed a lot of money, but I don't think many kids are now saying that Seth and Billy are their favorite actors, since it was voice-over work. Not, that's what Gina did. The responses towards her hate aren't hate too.

It is unprofessional. The Mandalorian is a huge project that Favreau created for one of Disney's most lucrative franchises that has gone on to be nominated for various awards and has made a ton of profit, taking pleasure in the firing of a key member of the cast that will result in some production woes is not a good look on either of their parts.

Hasbro announced that they're scrapping the Cara Dune action figures. I... think this is a bit extreme. She didn't mock a minority group I meant those who use different pronouns to identify themselves. she was asking legitimate questions about COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines which many others have also done Talking about conspiracies and sharing memes designed to trick people into not wearing masks isn't the same as questioning things. she did not write the message that resulted in her firing she saw it from somewhere else OK, let's stay within Gina's own logic. If I applaud a co-worker for wearing clothes with swastikas but I don't wear them myself, we'll both get fired. the message it was talking about had a good point of concern of where society is heading if we keep letting the propaganda motivate our thoughts and feelings to our fellow human beings. Nazis didn't just persecute people with different beliefs, but also people with different traditions and physical characters they were born with. That's what's so inhumane about it, and it doesn't apply to political parties. Gina is diminishing the suffering millions of people went through. Not to mention that right-wing movements tend to be the ones who employ propaganda. They've always have been. taking pleasure in the firing of a key member of the cast that will result in some production woes is not a good look on either of their parts. That's what it's about to you? In that case, why are we debating about Gina's intentions? According to your logic, even if she was a murderer, she shouldn't fired because it would mess with the writing process and/or the filming schedule.

Yup!
Something that's not an issue in the bigger scheme of things, suddenly becomes about political ideology. All laced with contrarian polemic from the side that's claiming to then be standing for something righteous and virtuous. Any sense of truth and acute insight gets lost and distorted in translation.
Disney has already distorted what Walt stood for. G rated family entertainment that is largely inoffensive, (there have been some exceptions due to naive portrayal like Song Of The South, but that is just the sjw snowflake brigade and whatever it gets accused of, that wasn't Walt's intention at the time), and the more adult product needs to fly under a different banner like they did with the Touchstone product in the 80's and early 90's.
