Underwater director Will Eubank will helm the sequel.

This franchise needs to rest in peace! let it die already, can we have something else?

I've honestly enjoyed every entry in the franchise. And Underwater was competently made. This sounds like good news to me.

I'm actually a fan of the films. They got better after part 1 for me... But I'm puzzled where they can go with it. They really wrapped things up well with the final film.
Just seems unnecessary.

Can't say I'm interested. The series had its ups and downs and some even tried new things but I don't know where else they can go with this concept.

The first movie was some scam by a talent agency executive--they claimed it was a modest low budget effort by an unknown filmmaker but it really was just Hollywood nepotism as usual. They clog up the airwaves with this merit-absent stuff and prevent talented newcomers from participating.
Paranormal Activity is the Joe Biden of movie series.

This franchise needs to rest in peace! let it die already, can we have something else? Hey, if Friday the 13th, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc., franchises can have unlimited numbers, don't see why Paranormal Activity can't. Have to admit, the first one scared the tar out of me. After seeing it the first time, years later I decided, while I was alone in the house at bedtime, and husband was away doing a tournament, I would watch it. WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING???!!?? Another film I did that with was A Haunting in Connecticut - terrified me, and why did I watch it when alone?

Ever heard of diminishing returns? So, again, if Friday the 13th, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc., franchises can have unlimited numbers, don't see why Paranormal Activity can't. It's overkill sometimes and that leads to diminishing returns at the box office and all! it's like the Universal monsters of the 30s 40s and 50s, they had huge characters and were hits then it became overkill until it was diminishing box office returns and beaten into the ground at the point that there was no need to do anymore for decades. That's what's gonna happen to these franchises! i think it's time to hang it up and move on to make new horror franchises and icons.

That has nothing to do with them not being able to make sequels/prequel. If terrible franchises like those I named can and be highly successful, Paranormal Activity, which is vastly better than the others, can as well.

One thing with this as opposed to those other franchises--is that they are traditional movies. Paranormal Activity is just a shot on video found footage format. Talk about diminishing production values.

Aside from the FF angle it doesn't feel like a "PA" film. Unless there are some surprises...
