Today I read a story about a reporter going out and talking to Shelley Duvall. He wanted to have her interviewed one more time at least and not allow here appearance on Dr Phil to be the last time she was ever heard from.
Anyway, the story made me think of her career, which made me think of Popeye. When I see Popeye while surfing channels, I always watch five or so minutes of it - - but I can never watch much more than that. I find it both fascinating and irritating. Back when I was nine years old, it seemed to be CONSTANTLY on HBO. Being nine, I always wanted it to be the cartoon (much like Pink Panther movies), but it wasn't - - except today, it feels very indebted to the cartoons. I appreciate it a lot, but I don't actually like it enough to watch it even in a sizable chunk.
Anyway, is there any movie that is the same for you? You'll watch a bit of it every time you see that it is airing, but you won't actually watch a sizable portion of it?

Great question. I'll say Overboard (1987). 5 minutes of the delightful chemistry between Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, but then I'm quickly reminded that the "protagonist" of the movie basically kidnapped her and forced her into sexual slavery.

Yeah it's odd because it's such a pleasant experience and enjoyable movie, but the premise is fucking bizarre from the get go. I can still watch it though.

I'd love to hear Frog's thoughts on this topic.
"Anything with a plot, anything with more than 1 star on any review, anything requiring the viewer to pay attention to what's going on..."
Kidding frogs. Please come back, wherever you are.

Probably any Lars Vin Trier movie.
But they don't show up on TV all that much.

Probably any Lars Vin Trier movie. But they don't show up on TV all that much. I could see that, though. I'd probably watch a bit of Melancholia whenever it popped up, but I wouldn't watch it all over again for sure. Most recently it was The House that Jack Built, which is like all Lars Von Trier movies in that it's really well made but also at times unbearable and weird, for various reasons. Some of which are because it's at times legitimately upsetting, and some times it's annoying in it's attempts to offend and feels more like he's just fucking with us than trying to do anything sincere. But it has those technical merits and some interesting ideas that make it somewhat worth checking in from time to time until you either get too unsettled or roll your eyes too much.
