Though Chris Lloyd is great in the role, it’s easy to see Lithgow also pulling off the wild eyed scientist role.

Here's tipping my hat to two outstanding actors . Two comics who can also do drama , and have great eccentric acting quality . I can certainly see John Lithgow in that role , but I'm glad Chris Lloyd was the one who was chosen . It suited his comic abilities to a T ! And I don't think John'O really needed it . He has such an illustrious career as it is .

Jeff Goldblum was also up for it. Could use the Delorean to make sure his DNA never bonded with a fly

Lithgow could've pulled it off, I think.

I thought Chris was perfect casting as destiny was made for him to be Doc Brown

He could play the character of Doc Brown.
But he could never be Christopher Lloyd Doc Brown. That was a special character.

He played a weird eccentric on "Third Rock from the Sun" so I could see it.

That might have worked actually. But Lloyd was born to play the role.

He played a weird eccentric on "Third Rock from the Sun" so I could see it. That's just what I was picturing when I said he could've pulled it off.
