For instance Midnight Run had three sequels, and American Graffiti and The Poseidon Adventure also had sequels.

The Dirty Dozen --> The Dirty Dozen: Next Mission
Chinatown --> The Two Jakes
America, America wasn't popular, I don't think. However, the director, Elia Kazan, made The Arrangement a few years later.

All those movies that got straight-to-DVD sequels in the '00s that had none of the cast (or even crew) of the first movie, e.g. 8mm 2 and Behind Enemy Lines II: Axis of Evil.

A Christmas Story (1983)My Summer Story (1994) AKA "It Runs in the Family", is an official Jean Shepherd sequel that takes place Six Months after the events of "A Christmas Story": Yeah, originally being called "It Runs in the Family", didn't help people to flock to this sequel... Neither did having a different cast... But in my Opinion, It's a fantastic sequel, and I recommend this one to fans of "A Christmas Story"... But, there are more "Stories" that were told! Again, All four of those were stories by Jean Shepherd... But, Sadly, more audience are now aware of another "Sequel" called: "A Christmas Story 2" (2012)... While it a sequel to first "Christmas Story" film... Very little of it, has anything to do with Jean Shepherd's original stories... and lacks the heartfelt narration of the late Jean Shepherd: In my opinion, this film is just a cheap Hollywood tale, meant to cash in of the well loved original... And it lacks any of the "Jean Shepherd" goodness, that made the original "A Christmas Story" (1983), so memorable... Again, In my opinion... If you want to watch a better sequel, to "A Christmas Story" (1983)... I highly recommend "My Summer Story" (1994), instead... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Summer_StoryI actually like it a bit better than "A Christmas Story" (1983), because you can watch it all year long, since it isn't about Christmas...

That's a relatively well-known film at this point, and it's not a sequel to the 1939 film.

Huh? I completely disagree,,, Most people I know, know that these WELL KNOWN FILMS: "The Dark Knight" (2008) & "The Dark Knight Rises" (2012), were sequels to "Batman Begins" (2005)... or are you talking about something else called "Batman Begins"?
