I've seen a small number like Psycho, Hellraiser, Freddy vs. Jason, The Blob, The Thing, and Eraserhead. I haven't seen a huge amount of horror movies outside of the sci fi, fantasy, and animation categories. It seems you're more into the thrills aspect where I'm into the strangeness and atmosphere. I see that Candyman is nowhere on your list, so is it just out of the top 250, or did you not like or see it. I never was a big fan of Candyman. I think its alright, it has a good score and solid atmosphere but I just never really got into that much. I really dont know why. Its a favorite of my dads though.

Shocker was a surprise to see on there but Blair Witch made me say out loud "goddammit!" Is that a good goddammit or a bad one?

Exorcist 3 is a definite top 10 horror, but then again there are only a few dozen horrors worth watching. I would have to disagree with the second statement but OK.

Huge respect for The Blair Witch Project. Movies like that de-coupled from their media hype age so well imo. It's an October staple for me. The less-is-more value is legit. I recently watched Bride of Frankenstein, I still much prefer the more suspenseful Frankenstein as horror proper. Dracula '31 is higher for me too. Halloween is my all-time #39, I much prefer it to the likes of Scream. The Blair Witch Project is one of my favorite films in general. Has been since I saw it in '99 when I was like 11 or so.

Where to begin? Lol. I still haven't seen Shocker, but it's on my watchlist for Wes Craven. The Blair Witch Project is creepy and a horror staple; probably my favourite found-footage movie. I like how you lump all the Friday the 13ths together, though I would have some ranked higher and lower than others. I feel that some might be a touch too high, but I know we all have our tastes. Let me know if you see Shocker. Its defiantly not for all tastes because it gets really crazy in parts and thats why I love it. It plays by no rules. I have many people say they dont like it but I have never heard anyone say they were bored by it. And its close to two hours longs so thats saying something.

Not a fan of slasher and gore movies, so my choices would be, for the most part, completely opposite of yours. To each his own. However, the popularity of The Blair Witch Project will forever remain inexplicable to me. The Blair Witch Project was terrifying to some and a waste of time to others. When it came out my uncle said he gone and saw it in the theater and wanted his money back. I was hypnotized and terrified when I first saw it because I thought it was all real. I know its not know of course but it still creeps me out big time.

Interesting list you got there. I like how it's so diverse in that you a variety of horror movies from all sorts of different decades. Knowing myself, if I was to compose such a list the majority of movies would likely come from the 70s and 80s, which I regard as the golden decades for horror. Personally I think that was the best age for horror as well but with the MPAA being stubborn assholes they made a lot of films cut back on the violence/gore. Yeah it's frustrating that the MPAA had that "cut back on the violence or your movie gets an X rating" mandate back in those days. It's been said that the murder of John Lennon helped fuel the war against violent movies, especially the slashers. But at least future DVD/blu-ray releases rectified that by having the gore put back in for some of these 80s horror movies.

Never been a big horror fan myself, but I respect the effort it took to compile this list. No doubt it was a passion project for you so it hardly seemed like 'work,' but still, thanks for the effort and thanks for sharing.

Is that a good goddammit or a bad one? Well Shocker was a shock but not necessarily a bad one--just surprised to see it on a list. BW was a bad one. Yuck.

That's a fantastically comprehensive list loaded with tons of high quality horror. I don't much agree with your Top 10 (i.e. The Evil Dead far surpasses Evil Dead II for me and I'd strongly favour Dawn of the Dead over Day) but I like seeing many of my own favourites featuring prominently on the wider list. It must have taken ages for you to compile.
I also find The Blair Witch Project creepy. Especially that ending!
Biggest surprise - No Nightmare on Elm Street movie appearing in your Top 10.
Quick question - if you had to pick just one, which Friday the 13th movie would you say is the best or most enjoyable?

I would go with Jason Takes Manhattan as my personal favorite then Part 2.
