I was at a Kroger-run grocery store the other night, wanted to buy a lime. One lime. Well, came to discover they wanted a dollar each for them. And these were just small-medium limes. I passed on that, and will wait until I'm at Winco again, see if they're any cheaper there.
How much do u guys typically pay for a lime, assuming u buy them?

Last time I bought limes, they were on sale 5/$1. Not sure how much they are at the moment. Haven't paid attention to the limes or lemons. I buy real lemon juice in the frozen food section.

Every where I go fruits are sold by weight and limes in particular are dirt cheap. Sounds like that store you went to is trying to rip people off.

In the small, independent produce markets around me, lemons and limes are usually about 3/$1.00. And, they're good quality.
At the larger supermarkets, they edge up close to $1.00 each. Safeway had lemons for $1.25 EACH! They weren't particularly large, or "juicy" to the feel.
I rarely buy limes, but buy lemons all the time.
It occurred to me that the mesh bags might be less, for what you need. "Nuts," says they're around $3.00. But, the down side of bags, is that you might not need as many as a bag contains.

I saw them at the store this week for 69 cents each. The lemons were 79 cents. Both of them were huge.
