Don’t hear much discussion on this one. Watched it for first time earlier tonight through Netflix. It’s well made and acted, but don’t have much desire to check it out again. Terrific sequence is docking with the Agena, which is tense. 3/4

One of my favorites of 2018. It tells the story in a very engaging and emotional way, it looks great, and the score is fantastic.

It gets better as it goes. By the end of it on the moon, it’s really awesome.
Watching it on Blu-Ray is a bonus too since it shows the switch from normal widescreen to IMAX as they walk out onto the moon. That was amazing.

Oh wow, they usually don’t do that on Netflix. It’d be cool if they started doing that for any movie with IMAX footage though.

Very good, alas not great for me. Gosling was nearly robotic & I wasn't onboard with him enough that his payoffs landed with less potency for me. Still, well written, well shot, & fascinating historical picture - albeit not the most memorable account for me.

It was my personal pick for Best Picture that year. Loved it.

Didn’t care for it that much. Claire Foy was good but I thought Ryan Gosling was oddly boring.

I have to echo the Ryan Gosling sentiments here, he's more vacuous than the outside of his capsule. If that's how the real Armstrong was, fine, call it "Second Man' and make it about Buzz Aldrin (who was kinda portrayed as a cunt in this, but at least had a personality). Wasn't fond of Foy, either. Without knowing who she was at the time, I could smell the Brit on her as her accent kept slipping and I think the "scared wife at home while husband does cool stuff" trope is tired and annoying. The IMAX stuff was cool, all 12 seconds of it. Overall, a big disappointment coming from Chazzelle. That guy made drumming more intense and exciting than space travel.

Great stuff.
I like the grounded approach that was taken with the story. It really had an old school feel to it, something that belonged in the 80s.
Gosling gives a commanding lead performance and Chazelle's direction is tight.
The movie is just epic in scope. Great score as well.
I regret not watching this in cinemas.

Other than some really annoying camera shaking when it was not called for, it was a great movie.
