Victorian staircases could kill but have they fixed that New York subway step yet?

I loved those 'hidden killers of the _ home' series, very educational. Kind of debunks that 'if you want to know how effective vaccines are, walk through an old cemetery and see how many children are buried there' argument. Yeah, it could be because they had measles, or it could've been because of a bacteria buildup in their physically impossible to wash baby bottles, or malnutrition because the formula was nothing more than flour and water, or food poisoning because they put borax in spoiled milk to coat the taste but did nothing to kill the bacteria in it, or lead poisoning from the toys or the green wallpaper with arsenic in it or from touching a bare wire electrical socket.

Vaccines help as do proper health and safety measures. My brother had whooping cough as a baby and suffered brain damage as a result. Mind you, I was almost killed by a falling scaffold tower at school so you’re never really safe.

Yeah but that's my point, that's an emotionally driven heartstring jerking argument, "Oh all these little children would be alive if vaccines existed back then". Problem with that. A tombstone is not a death certificate, they tell you who died, when, how old they were...they don't say how. None say 'drowning', none say 'house fire', none say 'influenza', none say 'trampled by horse', none say 'choked and CPR hadn't been invented yet', none say 'bee sting reaction and nobody knew that was an allergy'. It's a very naive view to say if but for vaccines, the world 100+ years ago would've been PERFECTLY safe for children and none of them would've died, anybody who says that doesn't know anything about history. An oil lamp gets knocked over, a second story window is open with no screen to prevent falling out, again, the stairs are so poorly put together and there are no lights to see by as you go down them, there are a million different ways kids could've died back then that are very rare today.

Thing is I have never seen the statement you are arguing against so I’ll just put this whole thing down to an anti-vaxxer taking any opportunity to crap on vaccination. All I wanted to do was post an amusing video about killer stairs and now all the fun has been sucked out of this thread. You people are worse than vegans and that’s saying something.
