Warner Bros. Executive Slams Joss Whedon’s ‘Justice League’ Cut: ‘Stupefying’ and ‘Piece of Sh*t’
The anonymous executive tells Vanity Fair that nobody at Warner Bros. wanted to admit how horrible Whedon's "Justice League" came out.
Zack Sharf
“When we got to see what Joss actually did, it was stupefying,” the Warner Bros. executive said. “Everyone knew it. It was so awkward because nobody wanted to admit what a piece of shit it was.”
Even before Snyder walked away from “Justice League,” the director was forced to battle Warner Bros. for creative control of the project. The studio dispatched DC Entertainment creative chief Geoff Johns and Warner Bros. co-production head Jon Berg to the production, where one of them would need to be on set every day monitoring Snyder and making sure the film wasn’t becoming too dark for Warner Bros.’ liking.
The studio also forced Snyder to cut out certain plot threads, including a proposed romance between Ben Affleck’s Batman and Amy Adams’ Lois Lane, and forbid him to make a version of the movie longer than two hours.
“How am I supposed to introduce six characters and an alien with potential for world domination in two hours?” Snyder said. “I mean, I can do it, it can be done. Clearly it was done. But I didn’t see it.”
To this day, Snyder has never seen Whedon’s “Justice League cut. Deborah Snyder, Snyder’s producing partner and wife, saw a private screening of Whedon’s cut before the film’s release and advised Zack to stay away from Whedon’s version. Deborah told Vanity Fair, ““It was just…it’s a weird experience. I don’t know how many people have that experience. You’ve worked on something for a long time, and then you leave, and then you see what happened to it.”
Deborah Snyder watched Whedon’s “Justice League” cut with Christopher Nolan, Warner Bros.’ “Dark Knight” trilogy director and one of the executive producers of Snyder’s DC films. After the screening, Nolan and Deborah went to Zack with a clear message.
“They came and they just said, ‘You can never see that movie,’” Zack Snyder said.

There's gonna be either a book or a HBO documentary about this.

Either way I doubt that Zack was on the brink of making a masterpiece. I don’t like really like either of their work. I guessing that it doesn’t really matter if Snyder’s version is better than Joss’ version. It’s not like I’m excited to see the final part of Snyder’s DC trilogy.

Funny, didn't DC executives hire Whedon in the first place? They handed him half a movie and told him to clean up a mess made by another director and he did the best he could with what he had. This sounds more like their fault than Whedon's.

I didn't hate the Whedon Cut, but it was a bit of a mess.

I didn't hate the Whedon Cut, but it was a bit of a mess. It’s too dull and simple to be considered a mess.

These people are being too harsh on Whedon. Not that he's blameless, but they have to remember that they basically called the guy in to jerry-rig a movie that was completely different from what WB was asking Whedon to turn it into. It was going to turn out bad no matter who was at the helm.

Batman v Superman is the worst comic book movie ever made. Grannies peach tea Batman the psycho retard Lex the psycho retard Clark the psycho retard Wonder Woman looking for a jpeg that has no thematic or narrative relevance to the rest of the movie The pretentious and condescending tone The movie literally stopping so Diana can look at trailers for future movies Clark's ghost dad telling him it's OK to be an asshole The titular fight being a five minute shoving match before resolving itself in the dumbest way imaginable The third act turd monster Lois and Clark's awful relationship implying that Superman will turn evil if anything happens to her The knightmare scene that's basically a short film within an already nonsensical movie Bagpipes at Superman's "funeral" when he's not even scottish Lex's "my daddy was mean to me" motivation The idea that questioning power is somehow wrong
Apart from being terrible and shit, I really don't think there's anything wrong with Whedon's ‘Justice League.’

Of course it is. Funny how this is coming out just as the Snyder Cut is being released. Funny how they're pretending there was a Snyder Cut in the first place, when it required a shit ton of reshoots and revamped CGI. It isn't a Director's Cut, it's a remake using old footage. Justice League was not a good movie, the Snyder Cut will be even worse.

At this point it's all about hindsight and fixing things years after the fact. Especially when you see what people didn't like about the previous version.

Especially when you see what people didn't like about the previous version. From what I understand, the reshoots in question weren’t really necessary, but were simply something that Snyder decided to add in because he thought it would be a “cool” way of expanding the story, and they apparently only amount to around four or five minutes of a four hour movie. I don’t see how that negates the fact that the Snyder Cut is a director’s cut.
