"Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital"
Yes, I know it's a Lars Von Trier knock off.
But it hangs together really well. The characters and actors are superb. The overarching story is good. The multitude of side stories is wonderful.
A horror, comedy, drama, musical extravaganza.
It rarely gets a mention compared to other SK TV miniseries.
I like it 👍

Like Rose Red, it has a tie-in novel... Read the book before watching the series of you haven't already seen it, is my advice 👍

I only discovered Storm of The Century like a year ago.
Solid piece of work that King wrote directly for the small screen.

I think it was around the same time last year that I discovered that it even existed, but I never watched it. I've also never seen the original series, but I have a hard time wrapping my brain around the idea that Lars Von Trier and Stephen King could have much in common.

By coincidence, I've been re-watching the von Trier Kingdom recently. Fun, kooky, off-kilter stuff, with more of a sense of humor than any other work Lars has ever put out would lead one to believe he was capable of having. Never have seen the remake yet, though.

More humor than his supposed comedies? Or the absurdist moments in his supposed dramas? This does seem like an outlier in his career.

I must admit, I've never seen The Boss of It All, but if we're gonna call The Idiots a comedy, as it's sometimes classified and marketed, we're just gonna be lying to ourselves.

Yeah, that's why I used the qualifier 'supposed' because I wouldn’t think he could make an actual comedy. Although some of his drama/horror stuff gets so over the top that it's silly. I feel like The House that Jack Built might kinda be a comedy toward the end... As are parts of Anti-Christ. But The Boss of it All, which I also haven't seen, was at one point supposed to be remade by Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurtwitz. So maybe there's something there.
