...and were delighted to see now-familiar faces unexpectedly pop up in small/peripheral roles?
I don't know how else to put it.

Him and his fiery demises. I also just noticed him in Trading Places (no fiery demise, though).

Watched Heat for the first time in quite awhile and realized that Ted Levine from Silence of the Lambs and the Fast and the Furious (1st one) was one of the detectives aiding Al Pacino. Not sure why I never noticed that before.

I re-watched The Firm last week for the first time in 20 years and noticed that Margo Martindale has a small role in it. Also Dean Norris, who plays Hank Schrader in Breaking Bad. That movie has an awesome cast.

Oh yeah, I also spotted Hank when I saw T2 in theaters a couple years ago. 20 years and under a SWAT helmet and he's still instantly recognizable.

I also noticed Jonathan Banks in Gremlins last time I watched it.

When I was watching Vampire's Kiss a few weeks back I spotted a very young John Michael Higgins.

Over the last 10 years, I've been going through the 20th Century (and now the first 2 decades of the 21st), watching a lot of older films and TV shows. I was able to see most of the regular cast of the first four Trek shows in roles years, well over a decade for some, before their respective shows. Also a lot of the Babylon 5 regulars.
I saw Patrick Stewart in his earliest screen roles in the '70s. He was bald even then, though in one film, Hennessy, he sported a hair style very much like Larry of The Three Stooges.

Knives Out. I was surprised to see a young Ana de Armas show up in the proceedings.
