Deborah Robertson was last seen in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on January 14, 1995 jumping from a still moving taxi. Deborah exited the taxi on Highway 501 Northbound in the Carolina Forrest area. Upon getting out of the vehicle, Deborah fell to the ground then got up and proceeded to run northeast into the woods. She was never seen again.
At the time of her disappearance, Deborah was 39 years old. She is described as a Caucasian female who stands 5'5" and weighs around 140lbs with brown hair and blue eyes. She has a brown birthmark on the back of her right thigh that measures 2in x 1in. She has a scar on her right ankle and a large scar across the front of her neck stretching from ear to ear.
She may go by the nickname "Debbie" or by alternate names "Deborah Gordon" or "Anne Robertson"
Despite going missing in January 1995, her casefile was only uploaded to the Charley Project in February of 2021. I had some initial questions:
When was Deborah reported missing? (In 1995 or more recently?)
What scared her enough to exit from a moving taxi?
What is the origin of the scar on her neck?
What are the origins of her potential aliases? (is Gordon a maiden name, married name)?
Why is there so little information about what seems like a fascinating and terrifying case?
So I started to google...
NAMUS-
Namus has 3 photos of Deborah that are not on the Charley project (uploaded in 2015)
Side note- she had gorgeous blue eyes
They also have a Map that shows where Deborah exited the vehicle and the direction she was running to
That is pretty much all I could find on Deborah and her case. None of the sites I can find list her DOB just that she was 39 at the time of her disappearance (which means she was born in 1955-1956 and would be around 65 today if still alive). I can't find where she resided at the time she went missing either. All I know is that she went missing in Myrtle Beach (which is a tourist destination- but definitely not in January).
I wish I could have answered some of my questions regarding Deborah but I figured I would still post this "analysis" of her case in case somebody sees this and possibly knows more.
Edit: I was thought of more things to research or look into:
One thing I also don’t know is how dense the woods are. From everything I can find, Carolina Forest began heavy development in the mid 90s (around 1994). Given this, I am not sure how built up the area was when she went missing. But- I would think that since the area was under active development before and after Deborah disappeared that this makes it less likely (to me) that she stayed in that area. The area she went missing from is about 12 miles from the Ocean.
The weather average was 55 degrees for myrtle beach that January (39 degree avg over night), so while hypothermia is a possibility I don’t know that it’s the most likely scenario.
