I'd rather if it was rated R myself but I know that's not how the MCU flies, generally speaking. If they get the right director to shoot the action proper, it need not matter.

Deadpool 3 will probably be the first R rated MCU film.

I usually don't make a big deal about movie ratings, but this sounds like instant fail. This film will have a near impossible hill to climb given what it will have to compare to.

I'm not at all surprised by this. Disney does nothing but pander to children.

The next question is, which Avenger makes an appearance in the movie for just a little extra box office security? My guess is we get a friendly Ninja Hawkeye vs Blade showdown. Calling it.

I don't get it. If Deadpool 3 gets an R-rating pass, why not this?

Yeah this makes no sense at all. If Deadpool can be R, Blade has to be. It's action/horror featuring vampires for Christ's sake, there should be plenty of blood.

If rated PG13, it'd would have to be a Dark Knight in terms of style and tone which I doubt Feige or Disney want to push the limit that hard. They should use this as an opportunity to experiment with R rated superhero fare. People can handle it. Or I'd assume they can.

I'm usually not a big 'It has to be R' guy, but when it comes to Blade you may as well go whole hog-- especially if you're already willing to do it with other properties. I want the best possible material for Mahershala Ali to work with.

I don't get it. If Deadpool 3 gets an R-rating pass, why not this? Deadpool 3 won't be formally connected to the larger MCU just like the other Deadpool movies were not formally connected to the larger, PG-13, Fox X-Men Universe.

I was almost sure for a second they hinted that Deadpool 3 would coexist in the MCU in some otherworldly way, but I guess not.

Blade always seemed like an odd choice for a big Disney franchise like the MCU.

Whats the big deal?
Some great action scenes can still be filmed...there won't be much blood & gore because vampires "dust". The blood/gore in the original film mostly occurred in the club scene when blood was in the sprinkler system.
So what else would be missing? Bad language? Remember Blade had multiple "fucks" in it...always a guarantee of an R rating. Sex/nudity? is anyone really expecting that, or think the film needs it.
You can get away with a lot more on screen than you could 20+ years ago. An R rating doesn't necessarily mean a film would be better, edgier or whatever

It's not like the MCU has been all PG-13 and failed because of it. People need to keep in mind this isn't Wesley Snipe's Blade. This is a new Blade made to fit in with the MCU. Birds of Prey was rated R and that didn't help it, so don't worry about the rating.
