Megan Is Missing got some popularity a few years ago. From IMDB: "The film became a pop culture sensation in November of 2020, after it went viral on the video-sharing social media platform TikTok - where it received 83 million views." However the film has only a 4.6 on IMDB.
I could not find a DVD of it anywhere (Im a physical media guy) and the only copy on found is one on ebay going for $250! But luckily I found one I was able to download it off Youtube.
So the film is a mocumentary loosely based and inspired by the 2002 disappearances of Ashley Pond and Miranda Gaddis in Oregon City, Oregon. This film is about two best friends Amy and Meagan. Meagan meets a guy on line and eventually disappears as does Amy. Eventually the film gets so dark and very disturbing. Kind of a different pace because the first 50 minutes were more like a teen drama. Its a mixed bag but I got to give it credit because it did creep me out big time. 6/10
Anyone see this film?

I think it is sick and tedious exploitation, specifically the last 15 minutes.
4.5/10

I just don't see the point of the movie. It isn't particularly well written or well made and then the director puts all this effort into showing them being murdered as if he is getting off on it. It reminded me of Cannibal Holocaust, another sickening and tedious movie that pretends to have a purpose other than to sicken. These directors simply don't have the talent to pull these kinds of movies off.

Haven't seen it, but I saw Your Movie Sucks' review. Looks like your garden variety moral panic movie about rambunctious youngins made by persons who seem secretly turned on by it (one of my least favorite genres) before taking a hard left turn into torture porn (one of my other least favorite genres), all wrapped up in a shitty found footage package (you guessed it, another least favorite genre).

I rented it back when I came out, it's exploitative and cheesy for sure, but out of all those DTV found footage movies that came out at this time it's one of the most memorable and it's not really surprising it's achieved some cult status. 6/10

I've heard of it but never saw it. Weird how a film that was under the radar when it came out and accidentally gained popularity after 9 years on a social media site.

*That* picture of Megan in the movie is so damn disturbing.
I actually love the movie and own the DVD. Definitely would make my top 15 list of the most disturbing movies I’ve seen.

I remember the big moments near the end and that’s about it. Didn’t stick with me aside from that.

Honestly never heard of it. Not really into found-footage movies. Reading the wiki page, this was marketed as an educational film?!?

You mean the pic of her with the metal clamps in her mouth and nose pulled back? Because that freaked the shit out of me when it popped on the screen. You are lucky to have the DVD because its pretty much a collectible one now.
