The user count on the board increased dramatically yesterday but the thing is how is it gonna continue to grow? I was spreading awareness for this board on IMDB and that helped. A lot of others did the same. But the boards gone now, there's no good way to spread awareness anymore and get more members. We'll get a handful but I think it's gonna be difficult to get 3,000 members. The rate were getting new users will slow down a ton from now on. You might find this of some interest... www.google.com/search?q="imdb2.freeforums.net"

Not everyone's on some new forum, some left for the older established ones like blu-ray.com Check out the stats of that site! Members: 369,337 Currently Active Users: 4619 (1458 members and 3161 guests) That's a lot of users ! Bookmarked ! However that site may go extinct www.denofgeek.com/movies/blu-ray/31183/whats-set-to-follow-blu-rayWe will have 8K movies soon on Internet Streaming Sites!

Those aren't all results for this site, which is why I searched for the full URL in quotes.

A lot of users would have only posted on tv/film/actors boards, so they won't come to a general film forum.

There are scattered tribes of former IMDb message boards users all over the internet now. Time will tell if most of us congeal into one new homeland or if we will remain in this state of disapora. There are at least 60 alternate forums. Some like this one were made after the death announcement, and others had already been around I think. Someone had mad a thread that had a list of the links, 60 from his last update, plus 2 others I had noticed on other threads. I'm not sure if he got those last two. Then there were some users that had said they will not be going to any other forums.

I just found it cool that this site is right up there in the search results. When I search for'Movies Boards Forum' newboards.theonering.net/forum/gforum/perl/gforum.cgi?forum (is the first user-board on the second page?) Imd2.freeforums.net does not appear on first 10 pages. Everyday I am going to Google Search: 'Movies IMBD2 Forums Board' Hit that at least Ten times....each day and everyday. (curious to then go and check the ranking #) Then there is just the mentioning of IMBD2 on other sites and leaving links, From what I can gather, page clicks to links is a huge Google rank generator. And visiting other splinter/ sites and mentioning IMBD2 casually in a conversation to make people curious? might work deviously

I'm hoping everyone ends up over at TMDb - it's the closest approximation of the old IMDb format with film/tv show/actor specific boards and all the centralized information that comes with a database. They need to do some updating to increase the aesthetic appeal and user friendliness, but the functionality is there and the owner is committed to improvements. Now it just needs the community.

Will take a long time before this forum (if ever) starts showing high up on Google, just posting links everywhere to here doesn't make much difference except in context with similar sites.

It's really hard to tell, because many former imdb users are using other alternative forums. I'm registered on 5 different site, just to try and stay in contact with everyone.

No, that is not really true, Interpage Linking is one of the main Google search ranking criteria for on-line data and traffic. Besides, it will also attract new users? who click links, double bonus. The google search is like ten seconds for a week then I will check the page ranking- just curious.

'by Col Needham, Official Rep, AKA-Agent Smith the message boards are not a core function of IMDb.'What is the new 'Core' function of IMBD? To use all that user data and reviews to become a Movie Streaming site. Sounds like a Matrix System message- did we all get ejected and dumped for that?

On that link, I see this: What's up with that, @tecnogaming? As flattering as that is, are we not friends anymore? By the way, how's the monetizing going?

Just checked my imported threads from IMDb (and I didn't even scrape anywhere near the whole site) and in my DB there is currently 32,000 unique users that IMDb had, you can probably extrapolate that they had at least 100,000 people posting (or posting/had posted in the past)
I do have a backup up of all threads that I may import (2 million posts), might be interesting to see how many people they really did have registered who posted on the message boards...
