Why under Personal Profile Settings, am I given the option of Male, Female, & Other/Decline to State, with the Mars symbol for Male ♂ and Venus symbol for Female ♀? But there is no symbol for Other?
I understand why Decline to State bears no symbol, I'm not a complete gender radical. But why is there no symbol for Other?

Even if it were the case that "other" could have a symbol, that in no way implies fear or dislike. Is there a symbol for transgender? Venus and Mars have been the symbols for male and female for a long long time. There is no symbol for "other." Other is not a sex or a gender.
There is no such thing as "other" when it comes to biological sex and that is what the male/female stuff has always been about. It didn't become about "gender" under way later. You are either a male or a female or intersex, which is a combination of both. It isn't a third sex.
Fear and dislike isn't always the issue, confusion as to what to do with former society norms now that transgender people are more prominent in society is the issue.
This whole thing is very frustrating, because as far as I can tell some people are just making stuff up. You are either male gender, female gender or a combination of both to varying degrees. If you consider yourself something else, you are not being rational. There is not a fourth option. It is an impossibility.

New ideas and things different than the norm often are confusing. Eventually people who are open to learning and that are accepting of new things without judging aren't confused for very long. I wouldn't say people are making stuff up. It's people trying to find a voice and an identify that they're comfortable with so they can live their lives. It's no different than you being judged without them knowing you as a person. For you it may not be rational if they don't fall into what you consider the "guidelines". For them it's not rational that people say they need to be this, this or this.

For them it's not rational that people say they need to be this, this or this. I believe there is a symbol for transgender. That is why I asked. There not a symbol for "other" though. That is just a word that means there are too many options to list them all. Confusion can only end if the confused person understands. There such a thing as just not being capable of understanding. I am not judging each individual. I am saying you can consider yourself whatever you want and you get all the freedoms that other people get. I can sit here and explain the way I feel and think all day and that doesn't mean I expect another person to understand it. Accepting something is different than understanding it. Maybe the difference is that I don't' care if people judge me. That is their right, whether they know me personally or not. I can attempt to explain my own mind, but I do not expect anyone to understand it. When I say confusion about society norms I am talking about the bathroom and sports issue. I don't care about this, but it is causing problems and confrontation in society and understandably so.

That's what they say in the article.
I support the gender binary. I'm just relaying info.

The symbol for others is ? Maybe 8-16 year olds should not gleefully chop, add or inject hormones on the advice of 'experts'. Let the individual decide when they reach the age outside influence.

An individual should be an adult before they themselves, their parents, or the medical establishment decide to mutilate their genitals.
I see this as one of the most important human rights issues of our time. Hundred years from now people will look back at this with utter abhorrence at such barbarism.

Perhaps there are too many options and ProBoards are waiting until this whole thing is sorted out Sooo yeah, there are a few more than I realized. As far as being sorted out it really shouldn't matter. People should be judged on what type of person they are and not how they look, what they wear or what they call themselves.

I can attempt to explain my own mind, but I do not expect anyone to understand it. When I say confusion about society norms I am talking about the bathroom and sports issue. I don't care about this, but it is causing problems and confrontation in society and understandably so. Most people who don't have a problem with a symbol for "other" are the people who already have a symbol. Why is there a "rule" to who gets listed? Why does here need to be "too many options?" For as much people don't care about people judging them there are plenty of people who do care and want to fit in. It's always easier for people "who have a symbol" to fit in than those who don't. Confusion can be a very fine line and is often linear. People may not "understand" all aspects but at what point do they quit trying to understand? I can say "well, I just don't get it" but how much effort did I extend? I get that most people don't care either way if it doesn't affect them. I've got plenty of things that fall into this category. We all pick what's important and what means the most to us. I hope you don't think I'm judging you. I love the fact that you're open and willing to having these conversations whether we agree or not. I'm not saying I'm right or wrong but at least we're open to hearing differing sides. I totally get that it's causing problems. This is a new concept for most people and it makes sense why it would cause such controversy. I get that and I can appreciate it but I am glad you're at least willing to have the conversation. For me much of it has to do with people who spout about "their rights" but don't recognize that others have rights whether you agree with them or not. I also have people who are very close to me that fit into both categories. I'm always walking a fine line between the two.
