...by having a winning season and making the play-offs, what chance some of the other no-hopers doing likewise? ie. Jets, Lions, Bengals, Jaguars and that embarrassing NFC East Division

Jets, and Jaguars have bottomed out. They need to rebuild. Lions still haven't hit rock bottom yet. Bengals are on their way up. They have the QB of the future in Joe Burrow. Now they need blockers to keep him in one piece. Of the NFC LEast, I think Washington has a good chance. Need a QB. Dallas is too hot and cold, Giants have issues and Philly is Team Turmoil.
All these teams lay awake at night and scream "Damn, I wish I was the Buffalo Bills!"

We're going to be contenders in a couple of years and I'll tell you why Rollin' with Hurtsy at QB - we'll take DeVonta Smith at #6 We'll be in cap hell for a year - but should be OK to spend some dough in 2022 That 2nd Round Pick we got from the Colts in the Wentzy deal is likely to turn into a #1 if Carson plays 75% of the snaps - which in all likelihood barring injury is going to happen So we'll have 2 1sts in 2022 and some coin to spend on Free Agents to go along with Jalen and DeVonta with a stud RB in Miles Sanders and above average TE in Dallas Goedert And just like that - We're back

Jets are fucked. Unless they get a ton of weapons and Darnold shows that he is legit they're in for another half decade of sucking.
Poor Lions, at this point you just got to feel bad for them and their fans. They can't do anything right.
Jaguars, unless Lawrence is ungodly good i don't see a drastic turn around because I don't believe in Urban Meyer as an NFL head coach. I imagine he is going to treat it like college as if he is the big man on campus getting his way. Meanwhile in the NFL you'll have players making triple what he does not wanting to be treated like 18 year old kids. Add in the fact once the going gets tough he will quit because "health concerns". You're in Jacksonville now Urban, not a blue blood college program. You're not gonna get all these five star athletes. Good luck.
NFC East? Who gives a fuck?

Nobody in the NFC East is quite the Browns. Giants have a history of success, the Eagles are a few years removed from the Superbowl, the Cowboys haven't been completely terrible for a long stretch in recent memory, and Washington appears to be on the upswing.
The closest thing is the Jets. They're bad and even when they looked like they were gonna be good in the Rex era that clearly didn't last. They haven't been a real contender for more than like 1 or 2 seasons at a time in forever, and they're starting all over again now. They have q new coach, and Darnold might have already been ruined by the Jets the way the Jets tend to ruin QBs. We'll see if they stick with him, but other than maybe a quarterback they don't really have anything at all in place.

And I was so pissed that the Jets moved up to #3 and took Darnold, and the Bills had to settle for Josh Allen. Guess that's why I'm not running an NFL team
Speaking of the 2018 Draft, how will it compare to the epic 1983 Draft for QB's? In 1983 you had six taken, in 2018, five were taken. For 1983, three were gods, John Elway, Jim Kelly and Dan Marino, two were "meh", Tony Eason and Ken O'Brien, and one was a bust, Todd Blackledge. In 2018, three look like great QB's, Baker Mayfield, Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson, one is "meh", Darnold, and one is a bust, Josh Rosen. Mayfield, Allen and Jackson have a long, long way to go to be Elway, Kelly and Marino, but to say that all three might be HOF caliber isn't a reach. And, of course, as good as the Big Three of 1983 were, they were 2-8 in Super Bowls

I think the Bengals will get things turned around - they have their QB of the future in Burrow and their offense is pretty good, they just need to improve their O-Line and their defense. But I think Burrow will definitely lead them to the playoffs in the future.
The Jags have some talent and I think Lawrence will be a very strong NFL QB, so I could see them making the playoffs soon, but I don’t like their hire of Urban Meyer as I don’t trust him to be a good NFL head coach, along with the fact that he’s a morally bankrupt scumbag.
The Lions could get things turned around soon as well - unlike others I actually like Jared Goff as a QB, I mean he led the Rams to the playoffs in 3 of his 4 years as their starter, and the Lions should have a pretty good offense IMO.
Things look hopeless for the Jets - they are absolutely talentless and unless Darnold really turns things around and they somehow get more talent around him, they are going to continue to suck.

So many factors come into play. Would Darnold have been better if he was in Josh Allen's situation? Maybe? It's easy to say no and say that believing otherwise is an excuse for his failings, but I do believe a bad organization can ruin player's potential. But it was the same thing in New York with the Giants, first of all taking Saquon before Darnold, and then taking Daniel Jones instead of Dwayne Haskins. Now, I have no idea I'd either of those guys will be worthy of their high draft pick in the long run, but those were considered bad moves at the time by a lot of pundits and fans, and now they certainly seem like the better way to go vs what people wanted. Allen, Mayfield, and Jackson are at least all very good picks for their teams. No matter how things ultimately shake out with those guys, I think you can be comfortable already in saying that these are good, successful draft picks. Maybe they can best 83 in the Super Bowl department, and maybe they can't. But it's cool to see these teams that were in pretty desperate need of an identity at quarterback all have that direction now. Especially Buffalo and Cleveland.
