They'll be coming after 12 Angry Men soon to ban it.

She’s admitting she can’t relate to male characters. That’s an incredibly narrow minded take.

Well I am sure Chuck Connors would be upset by her lack appreciation for this classic:

She is related to Nicholas Cage... Nothing else to add to this topic.

I love it when journalists put quotes like that as the headline, even though it's part of a long conversation that most likely had more interesting subjects. I also love it when people post these things on forums. Both are ways to attract a lot of unnecessary hate. And it's not really something we can analyze, so it won't start a discussion that goes beyond "Oh, as a man, this offends me so much!"
Maybe if Sofia had said "There shouldn't be movies starring men anymore" or something... but no, it's a personal choice that has no effect on anyone else.
I should also point out that Sofia wasn't specific. Is she talking about movies where there are no women in the main cast or in the entire cast? There is a difference.

She’s out of touch.
Man, she had so much promise with “Lost in Translation” and “The Virgin Suicides”
She is one of those artists that lost her ideas at an older age. She was full of life once.
“On the Rocks” was the biggest letdown of 2020 imho. It could have been the spiritual predecessor to Lost in Translation. But it was so amateur.

I hear she's in talks to helm a reboot of 'A Few Good Men'. The working title is 'A Few Good Women'.

According to sources, she's currently in talks to direct a reimagining of 'Glengarry Glen Ross'. Early casting suggests theatre legend Alison Pacino will be playing sales hotshot Ricki Roma, with decorated Jacki Lemmon as down-on-her-luck dealmaker Shelley 'The Machina' Levine, Alice Baldwin as formidable company woman Blake, Alanis Arkin as veteran trader Georgia Aaronow, Edwina Harris as middle-of-the-road saleswoman Davina Moss and Joni Pryce as prize sucker Jamie Lingk. Disgraced actor Kevin Spacey won't be returning, but will instead be replaced by one of Hollywood's leading female actors.

I don't know if there's any truth to these rumours, but I hear she's considering producing a remake of 'The Thing' ... but with a twist; there's now a woman at the frozen base. I've not heard anything official as of yet, and the script's said to still be a work in progress (the studio's bringing in some female writers), but the production title is 'The Thing From Another World'.

And if a celebrity said he can’t watch movies with female characters he would be blacklisted in phony, woke progressive Hollywarped. She’s a spoiled Hollywood brat who got her chance because of daddy’s, (a man), connections.
I guess she’ll just have to forgo the classic Lawrence Of Arabia.

Once a female director with so much promise , I think she really is believing the feminist stoners she hangs out with . She is beginning to act like someone with multiple sclerosis and with early dementia too .

I don't give a shit about what Sofia Coppola can watch, and what she can't watch... The world doesn't revolve around "Sofia Coppola"!
There have been movies for Men, and movies for WOMEN, for decades... Some people prefer watching only certain types of films, while others like watching a wide variety of film...
This is not going to change, because of Sofia Coppola.
Movies will still be made featuring mostly Male casts, long after she's dead and buried.
Most people accept that other people have different tastes in films.
Those who don't, need to get over their believed self importance in the world.

Those who don't, need to get over their believed self importance in the world. Its this distorted narrative being projected that women are "special" and important, as though they have never been recognized before. If she can only connect with women, then best she stay away from men as she surely doesn't understand them.

What exactly did she mean by that? I would imagine very few movies have absolutely no females, even the most testosterone filled, big explosion filled action movie marketed pretty much exlusively toward men is gonna have at least some women in them. Off the top of my head the only movie I can think of that has absolultely no women with speaking lines in it is "Reservoir Dogs" (unless you wanna count that woman whose car gets stolen that's barely in it)
