The reviews for this I don’t get. Every reviewer has made Tom And Jerry out to be some great cartoon when in reality it was just a mediocre cartoon. I don’t understand why some people are so upset that the movie was so mediocre considering it’s on the same exact level as the cartoons.
I was not expecting anything amazing with Tom And Jerry and I got a pretty enjoyable movie that is pretty mediocre as well. Yeah the jokes suck and the movie is pretty modernized, but it makes sense considering the audience today. And let’s be honest the newer Tom And Jerry animated movies are nothing to write home about.
It also seemed to bother people that this was live action. I swear some of them were like “why do we need a live action Tom And Jerry movie?” Well maybe because we had over 10 animated movies and a live action movie would have been something different. So does the movie being live action hurt the movie? No. It honestly felt like a live action Tom And Jerry movie should have played out.
I really do not understand the hatred for this movie. So you’re upset because it’s a mediocre movie based on a mediocre cartoon?

I think the flaw in your logic is that everyone agrees that it was a mediocre cartoon.
Many people seem to love the original shorts, myself included.

Then I don’t understand what is wrong with the movie. It plays exactly the same way as the shorts!!! Tom chases Jerry and set up traps for each other. Only difference is this one has an actual plot.

But a short is different than an entire movie. Watching a cat chase a mouse for 10-20 minutes is fun. A whole movie would be boring.

If Blue Sky did an 80 minute Scrat film I suspect it'd wear out its welcome past the fifteen minute mark.

Sure, about 15 minutes of it were like the cartoon. The rest was the whacky hotel adventures of Chloe Moretz with instantly dated improv from milqtoast wunderkind Colin Jost.
The best live action Tom and Jerry movie is still Mousehunt.

The best live action Tom and Jerry movie is still Mousehunt. Yeah that was amusing. I liked it. The human comedy stuff worked too-including Christopher Walken.
Someone gave me the DVD as a gift and then they wanted to watch it but couldnt find it available so I sent them the disk. The dvd has alternate ending footage.

What's the alternate ending? Something with Catzilla-also working in the factory at the end.

That is not a valid comment. Also, rating a movie 1/10 is rather childish, I’ve never seen one deserving of such, though one comes close. Regardless, please make an actual post next time, not a number. As for my own thoughts on this topic, old school cartoons like Tom & Jerry work best simple and in small doses. A full length film with a “plot” is not their forte typically.
