I just started watching the new season of When Calls the Heart on the Hallmark Channel. It's season 8. I gotta tell you, it's kinda nice. I feel like I skipped all the bullshit and now I'm into the real meat, ya know? I should do this more.

I did that a couple of times as a kid, but that's because I didn't know better. How old are you?

Supernatural - Season 3...
Started watched a few episodes, here and there, and liked it more and more with each one I saw...
By Season 6... I was interested in it enough, that I wanted to watch the whole thing...
I bought the DVDs from Season 1 and onward, and watched the ones I missed...
Been watching it ever since... Just waiting for the final season to come out on DVD.

I did that with Entourage. I randomly started watching it in season 7. Same with Curb Your Enthusiasm. I did go back though as catch up all the way on Curb. I never got around to doing that with Entourage.

Classic Doctor Who originally aired in the United States on PBS stations, and they started with the first episode of Season 12 "Robot".

The only time I can remember doing it were with Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia...I didn’t catch an episode until season 3 and I really enjoyed it.
And with the Sopranos. I watched the final season with friends.
Both times I went back and started from the beginning but it was after I had watched an entire season.

Stargate: SG-1 was in its 8th season when I started watching. Shortly thereafter, I started buying the season boxsets starting with the first. It was fun seeing characters and story arcs introduced in those earlier episodes that were in full swing (and, in many cases, on their way out) in Season 8.

I started watching Seinfeld in either the last season or the second-to-last season. I'd heard of the show, but I was young and didn't want to watch such an "adult" show. Caught an episode by chance and became a fan.

In the days before streaming that was not uncommon at all. Off the top of my head, I started watching Star Trek TNG and DS9 in re-runs, without knowing what season it was. The same for Buffy. I caught it on re-runs (later I would find out that it was season 4), then started watching the new episodes (middle of season 6).
Seinfeld and Frasier I also started watching in the middle, and then caught up with the earlier seasons on reruns. The same for Big Bang Theory.
