Hard to believe it's been 35 years since this seminal album from Metallica came out. I don't really think I can add anything else that has already been said about this great album. It's still the best album Metallica has made in my opinion. Metallica reached a high point that the band will probably never reach again. The band members were all in peak form with a maturity in the songwriting and performances from each of the members. All the songs are solid and still staples of Metallica concert performances to this day. Other classic metal albums like Reign in Blood and Peace Sells came out in 1986, but as good as those albums are, don't hold a candle to Master of Puppets in my opinion.

I do think And Justice For All had the potential to be better had Lars not f...ed up the production but yes, Master of Puppets will forever remain Metallica's Magnum Opus. An album I can listen to anywhere and anytime, an outstanding work of art forever.

Excellent album but I think I prefer Ride the Lightning.

Excellent album but I think I prefer Ride the Lightning. I once toyed with the idea of also rebuying "Ride the Lightning" on CD, but these days I'm more interested in buying new albums than rebuying old ones.

I do think And Justice....is a bit better overall, but you could definitely make the argument that Master of Puppets is Metallica's greatest work.

Great album, the first Metallica album I had ever heard, at the time I had never heard anything like it. At the time my experience with "metal" was mostly god awful late 90s nu-metal (Limp Bizkit, Korn, etc) so this was a fresh of breath air for me.

Excellent album but I think I prefer Ride the Lightning. Agreed. They're easily my two favorites, but if I have to pick one I think I'd choose Lightning.
