What are some great sports scenes from films that weren't really about sports at all? I'll start with a couple of examples, and you guys take it from there..... Cuckoo's Nest with the famous basketball game, and perhaps even the imagining of the baseball game that Jack does. Wedding Crashers with the football game MASH with the football game. Your turns..... Quiddich match in the first Harry Potter film. |

I watched this a few months ago, the first time I saw it since seeing it in theaters. It really didn't hold up well at all. It was vastly sillier than I expected it to be, and I expected it to be quite silly, I tell you. Love Kurt Russell though and Snake Pliskin can be on my team any day. But I drafted him. So he's on my team. |

I watched this a few months ago, the first time I saw it since seeing it in theaters. It really didn't hold up well at all. It was vastly sillier than I expected it to be, and I expected it to be quite silly, I tell you. Love Kurt Russell though and Snake Pliskin can be on my team any day. I didn't even think it was that good when it came out. It's like a spoof of the original, it's hard to tell what was supposed to be a wink to the audience and what (if anything) was supposed to be sincere about the film. It's got a couple of fun scenes, but it's pretty bad.

The producer of that film, Thomas Tull, is a minority owner of the Steelers (although I'm not sure if he was at the time). Watching the clip, besides having it in Heinz Field, having the colors of Gotham be black and yellow (with fans waving yellow towels), and having Bill Cowher, Ben Roethlisberger, Aaron Smith, Brett Keisel, Hines Ward, Mike Wallace, and Maurkice Pouncey on the sidelines, the kicker for Rapid City is named " Ravenstahl". Well done, Mr Tull.
