"It was a story that needed to be told," says Maxine Peake, emphatically. "It's a story about a swathe of society that has been ignored and bullied." The actress is referring to Three Girls, a new BBC One drama based on the true stories of victims of grooming and sexual abuse in Rochdale. Peake plays Sara Rowbotham, the sexual health worker who realised the girls were being abused and reported it to the authorities - and was repeatedly ignored. "The powers that be weren't encouraging her, they were shutting doors, they were telling her to be quiet, they weren't interested," says Peake, who met the real-life Sara in preparation for the role. "Nobody seemed interested in helping these girls who were in desperate situations. These were really vulnerable young women - the lack of care for them I found mind-blowing." As the title suggests, Three Girls focuses on the young victims who were groomed in Rochdale in the five years between 2008 and 2012, for which nine men were convicted and sentenced. The judge at the time, Gerald Clifton, said the men - eight of Pakistani origin and one from Afghanistan - treated the girls "as though they were worthless and beyond respect". He said: "One of the factors leading to that was the fact that they were not part of your community or religion. "Some of you, when arrested, said it (the prosecution) was triggered by race. That is nonsense. What triggered this prosecution was your lust and greed." The drama - which will be shown over three nights next week - has been made with the full co-operation of the victims and their families. It comes as ITV soap Coronation Street also has a running storyline about child grooming involving 16-year-old Bethany Platt and a "boyfriend" in his mid-30s. 'Passed around like a ball'.Three Girls isn't an easy watch, although it is never prurient or sensational. Two episodes were shown at a press screening in London this week. The mood afterwards was subdued. www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-39846999

As the judge says in his sentencing of the 9 Muslim men, they treated these poor white working class young girls as less than zero because they weren't Asian or Muslim. The failure of the authorities in Rochdale to listen to these girls stories is a scandal itself, that they were afraid to take action for fear of being labeled "racist" or Islam phobic is no excuse. Of course Rochdale is just one of at least a dozen pedophile rings containing only Muslim men operating throughout the UK. Maybe after this drama some real debate can begin.

I started a thread about it in 2014 and once again on 1st January 2016. I have lived in UK for one and half years( Leicester and London). This topic should be discussed and a solution needs to be found. Many times people dismiss this problem because of the fear that they don't want to appear racist or Islamophobic. The problem is hardly a result of race in the first place. It is more because of culture and religion and entitlement that some Muslims think that they have regarding kaffir women. Of course all Muslims are not like that. In fact a vast majority of Muslims are not like that. But enough Muslims are of opinion that non-Muslim women have little to no worth so as to cause concern and cause these issues.
I will try to think of solutions to this problem in next 24 hours and come back with it. I won't go too extreme like Trump to demand that Muslims should not be allowed to enter west. But I will try to think of a more moderate and practical solution.

Yeah that's the spirit cupcake fail to address the point AJ was making about a significant proportion of mainly Asian Muslim men's attitudes towards non-Muslims and women being a contributing factor to this appalling crime. Funny that you didn't call AJ a racist but you had no problem calling myself and Thorshairspray that even though we made exactly the same points as AJ is making. Care to explain why that is?

Sorry Thorshairspray but I couldn't care less what a racist sunbed shop owner from Luton has to say about anything. Stephen Yaxley-Lennon(Tommy Robinson) is a liar and a fraud. To be fair, Robinson isn't racist and there is probably nothing you can cite to show he is, when he founded the UPL, the protest marches had placards saying "National Front go to Hell" and the EDL burned the Nazi flag, which is why the EDL ended up fighting with Nazis in Birmingham. But the video explains the harassment he has received at the hands of the British police. The restrictions on his finances, movement and speech. Whether you agree with him or not, whether you hate him, if what he says here is even half accurate it is a disgrace to the country. After organising the first EDL demonstration, he was arrested for Swearing outside a football stadium. Bail conditions, not to enter Luton town centre. Arrested for driving a stolen car, which wasn't stolen and had his mothers house raided. Arrested for Criminal damage to a door in a Leeds hotel because he matched the description, had his mothers house raided and all his phones etc seized. This arrest coincided with Robinson being due to speak about grooming gangs in Bradford. Charges dropped on latter two arrests. Bail conditions not to contact the EDL. After this, Robinson and his wife were arrested for money laundering and mortgage fraud. They were placed on restraints limiting them to £250 per week for four years under anti terror laws. No charges. Robinson then planned a charity walk in London but was asked by police not to enter Tower Hamlets, which he refused. This video shows what happened. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEI0TKkX9_o[/quote] Robinson and his cousin assaulted and both subsequently arrested for "obstructing police" His bail conditions? Not to enter Tower Hamlets. Now at this Point, Robinson had been arrested 6 times and only charged with swearing. He has subsequently been charged with: Tax evasion: Not guilty Burglarly: Not guilty Assault: Not guilty Mortgage fraud. He took a deal on this to keep his family out of court as he had already been told by the government he was on Al Shababs kill list. The actual fraud was not by Robinson, but he had lent the money to his brother in law. Robinson would have walked for that. Bail conditions not to contact the EDL Subsequently recieved a bill for £325,000 under proceeds of crime act. In court judge reduced this to £125,000 under threat of a further 4 years in prison. Recalled to jail after receiving a tweet from a guy threatening his mother and telling the guy where he would be. Interestingly the guys handle was "1488, Hitler" released and told he was not allowed to discuss Islam or his treatment by police at his Oxford Union speech. Due to speak at the House of Lords, arrested and recall to jail ten days before the speaking date. He had 8 days on license, but was held for 11. Was arrested by US police when entering the US legally to speak to a US congressman. Sentenced to 10 months for entering the US on somebody elses passport. Prevented from travelling to France because France has "tensions" Was arrested when a gang of Muslims were threatening his family with weapons. None of the Muslims were, one of whom was Ibrahim Anderson, later jailed for terrorism. Arrested for Contempt of Court for livestreaming whilst on the steps to the court house. Arrested at 4:30 am. The guy has three children. Charged with assaulting a police officer, when accidentally falling into one whilst trying to take an ISIS flag from Muslim on Armistice day. Not guilty Subsequently charged with causing "alarm and distress" to the guy who's flag he took. Fined. He has been arrested at least 19 times since 2009. Convicted for swearing, took a deal on the mortgage fraud and entering the US illegally and he did that because the British police asked the US to bar him entry. Apparently this is being put into a documentary, with the supporting evidence. If this is even half true, regardless of who he is and what he believes, it is utterly unacceptable in a democracy.

Oooh...you're a liar.....thats a new one from Rabbit. Its amazing how this guy has literally no arguments when other people aren't around to make them for him. See, the thing is, Rabbit is clearly entrenched in his worldview to the point that he literally has enemies that cannot be agreed with at any cost. So while me and you can disagree but continue to talk, he simply cannot do that. We have to be wrong. He cannot cede any point to his "enemies" which is why he simply falls back to insults and repetition. As AJ said above, I was saying in 2014 that the migrant crisis was going to lead to a rise in the Far Right. Have you seen Gert Wilders manifesto? It's shocking and will actually restrict the freedoms of Dutch citizens and ban all immigration. His party is now the second biggest in Holland. The Sweden Democrats now look like serious candidates, polling around 21% up from 7% in 2010. The Tories over here will smash Labour in June because Labour are still pushing the stupid identity politics nonsense. But obviously I was a bigotted Nazi, xenophobis, Islamophobe when I said that mass migration from Africa and the Middle East needed to be restricted. Even Angela Merkel is saying that now. I said Multiculturalism had failed. Obviously I was just a racist. Funny how Angela Merkel said the same thing.

Jesus, that is like Blade calling somebody homophobic... You have the self awareness of a brick. How about you explain how myself and Supes were lying in the thread about grooming gangs? And where am I supposed to be supporting Suerdude? You have never once supported any claim you have made about me. So, go for it now, show anywhere on this forum where I have demonstrably lied in defence of a point. Where I have knowingly posted false information because it suits my agenda. Go for it.

Like the vast number of your fellow obsessed, you've lost any and all care for integrity and are willing to post anything. Again, how about either of you show a post where I called either of you racist. You can't of course, because you're a rank inveterate liar, so like all of the barking mad websites you visit and absorb and regurgitate, you just try to put up inane smokescreens of more bullsh!t. The question on the table was "But what explanation are you offering for why certain minorities are overrepresented in certain crimes?"

Let's first understand is there a way that Muslims are able to exploit migration system in some way that they can immigrate without necessary skills?
From my experience of living in UK from September 2012 to January 2014, I believe some Muslims are able to stay in UK permanently on basis of marrying their cousins. This could happen with other communities too but cousin marriage is a lot more common among Muslims than most other communities/religious groups. At least 2 Muslims I had known were able to live in UK permanently because they married their cousins who were already UK citizens. But I have no idea how exactly this problem can be solved.
I believe the rate of skilled migration in UK from outside Europe has already fallen drastically since people from other parts of Europe were allowed to enter UK without any visa requirements a few years back. I had successfully cleared an interview for a job in central London business district but the company had stopped sponsoring visa by then (2013) for non-Europeans. So unlike 10 years back when students from outside Europe were able to get UK PR easily they are not able to do so now. I believe this means most of the Muslims who are going to UK now are refugees? That makes it a moral issue. If a country can afford to take refugees then shouldn't that country take them?
Now the question is who were the Muslims who were involved in 7 or 8 grooming rings (like in Rotherham, Bristol, Oxford etc. etc.) that have been known to sexually exploit minor white or non-Muslims girls on large scale? Were they immigrants who came to UK in their lifetime or were they Muslims who were born in UK only? I don't have any data about it. So if someone can answer then we can get close to understand the issue more closely. I sure hope the people found in grooming scandal were not those who were born in UK. For then the problem will be much difficult to solve.
I will have more to say on the topic later.

Several of the perpetrators in the Rochdale case were Pakistani nationals who had dual citizenship but were not born in the UK, of them two were from the same village in Pakistan, one of them was an Afghani Asylum Seeker. But the ring leader Shabir Ahmed was born in Pakistan. He exemplifies everything that's wrong with the attitudes of certain Muslims. Having been granted British citizenship he repaid that kindness by participating and organizing the rape and abuse of dozens of young British born girls. When caught he labelled the police and prosecutors racist. When taken to court he had to be removed from the court for repeatedly labelling the judge a "racist bastard". He was sentenced to 23 years which in my opinion is not remotely good enough,he should have been excuted and pieces of him sent back to his village in Pakistan. He has now appealed to the ECHR(European Court of Human Rights) to try and avoid deportation back to Pakistan he claims the trial was a way to "scapegoat Muslims". And here's what he had to say about Theresa May the then home secretary and now prime Minster: "She says all her trouble comes from Muslims yet she's the biggest trouble causer in the world" That type of rhetoric I've heard not just from this guy but other Muslims over the years. Britain has done X so I am justified in doing Y. A false equivalency brought about by ones view of their race religion.

I just finished episode 3 and I've been going online a lot to find out all I could about this. It seems to me that there is a lot of blame to go around. First and foremost of course are the so-called 'men' involved. I think it's a disgrace the way no one in the Pakistani/Muslim community did anything to stop what was going on; in fact, if I remember rightly what I read, they wouldn't even admit to their being a problem. I feel they got too light sentences. A few of them were let out of jail after serving only half of their sentence: one got 3 years but was let out after a year and a half. What the heck? They wonder why there are so many pedophiles running around Britain. Secondly, the police, and the CPS, who basically did nothing. PC running rampant made them shy away from looking too deeply into the complaints made about the men because they were mainly Pakistani, Muslim men. Thirdly, the parents. While watching the first episode, seeing Holly living in the house with the other girls, I was wondering why the parents didn't call the police to remove her from there and take her home. Parents: sometimes tough love is needed, and if that means locking your son/daughter up, then do it. All in all, it was very shocking to me.

I believe that authorities should encourage elders of Pakistani and some other Muslim communities to educate their youth regarding this problem and how it is bad and how they can caught if they are found to exploiting minors. Also, the British parents should be more careful on how they raise their children. Though in many such cases the minor girls in question are usually from broken and dysfunctional families. Finally, British people should raise more voice against such problems. It's not just limited to Muslims. Many things don't even come out. The demonic monster Jimmy Savile managed to live all his life respectfully and his crimes never even came to knowledge of public during his lifetime. It's as if authorities are too hesitant to deal with these problems.
