The first actor that I remember period was Charlton Heston in The Omega Man, Midway, and the Ten Commandments. I remember watching the late night movie on our ABC affiliate back in the day and that was the movie shown. It creeped me out so much but I loved it too and thought Heston was the ultimate tough guy. Then I saw the Ten Commandments on ABC that following Easter weekend and thought he looked familiar. I asked my Mom and was awestruck at how different his characters were. Then came Midway (the extended TV version) and saw him playing a tough guy again, I remember him really busting his son's chops in that film. "You better watch yourself Tiger, or some hotshot jap pilot is going to flame your tail!!!!"
The second actor that I remember was James Stewart. I believe it was in Spirit of St. Louis. I became a huge aviation buff after that one and Midway!!!
