I know some of us collected cards from that decade. If you didn't then sod off.
I have every one except #5. The 1985 Doc Gooden was a card printed on the bottom of a display box
Oh and I don't have #3. I did but I traded it for a 1968 Mantle. Time will tell if I got gypped

Not to be confused with the greatest card of the 70s.

Not to be confused with the greatest card of the 70s. Close but no cigar
The real #1 of the 70's
Oh it kills me to say this, because I loathed Munson. But its the first real action card. The horizontal format. The Rookie Trophy, which I loved.
Night Owl's blog did the 80's I like his blog, even though it's top heavy with Dodgers crapola

I "had" #1. Well, I may still have it. I collected baseball card from 1978-1980. Sometime during the late 80s to early 90s, my mother sorted out my stuff. She forgot where she put my boxes of baseball cards. She also did not remember where she put my yearbooks and notes up to high school years. If someday the boxes of cards show up inside of some trunk, in addition to the Ricky Henderson rookie card, I would have Eddie Murray and Paul Molitor rookie card and Thurman Munson's last card.

Just looked up the price for the 1980 Henderson. Grade 7 is selling for $600. A grade 10, $125,000. Find yours and get it graded. Of course, asking is not getting. I have the McGwire autographed. I should have dumped it before the steroid shit happened

In 1989, this was HUGE. Not just for card collectors, not just baseball fans, not just sports fans, but everyone was talking about this. "Did you hear about the baseball player? They took his picture for his card and he had "Fuck You" (that's what the rumors said) written on his bat. Boy, I bet that card will be worth millions someday!" A grade 10 is going for between $750-$12,000 on Ebay. Bet no one gets five figures for it. It has a cool story but its still from the Junk Wax Era. Bet there are billions out there.

I started collecting baseball cards in 1986 - when I started collecting the O-Pee-Chee packs. They were the same as Topps, but just a reduced set.
Hindsight - I should have collected the hockey cards instead. But, that's another story for another time.
I remember going to a flea market, and I was wanting to pick up a 1987 Fleer set. Figuring the price would be about $25.00, I found out it was closed to $50.00 because there was a Kevin Seitzer rookie card in it that was worth about $15.00 in an of itself.
I didn't really go gung-ho into card collecting again until 1990. I was helping out a friend at his booth at a memorabilia show. I did pick up a few packs of cards. The one pack I got (1989 Fleer Cello), it contained a Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card. It was worth about $10.00 at the time!
Sadly, there was no Billy Ripken card in it. Knowing my luck, the phrase on the end of the bat would have been blacked out, anyway.
