That was the film I immediately thought of. The ending so disgusted me when I saw it, I still feel revolted thinking of it now. There have been MANY good selections on this thread, but honestly I don't think there's ever been a film with a more bleak and awful ending as Chinatown. To think what that young girl had in store for her, and the fact that nothing could be done about it makes the ending so chilling. And then the line "Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown!". Like, "shit happens, who cares?"

I feel that ending of Angel Heart lets down the rest of what went before it. It didn't need supernatural glowing eyes on the kid, just a lingering shot. It was cheesy. Parker may have well have watched Rosemary's Baby. 100% agree and Parker himself admitted it was probably a mistake but it came out of De Nero's insistence that he wanted a big reveal about the character he was playing and turned up on set with special lenses to change his eye colour, (as well as his hair dropped (having worn it in a bun in his pervious scenes) and sporting long fingernails) but parker claimed it was always his intention to make a detective film and not a horror or supernatural film.

The Final Cut Arlington Road Possessor Cube I wouldn't include Cube on the list.

The Final Cut Arlington Road Possessor Cube I wouldn't include Cube on the list. If you're referring to the guy who "escaped", he's probably not long for this world. The prequel Cube Zero even indicates as much, although I suppose follow-ups don't count as evidence.

They don't. The sequel/prequel were made by a completely different teams who clearly didn't understand the first movie.

That said, I seriously doubt a super secret facility like the one in the original, would allow anyone to just walk away from it. The guy is most likely screwed. And even if they did allow him to live, they still win, because nobody is stopping them from continuing.
