Looks like the Creed franchise is mirroring the Rocky franchise with the star taking the reins of the sequels. www.msn.com/en-us/movies/news/michael-b-jordan-will-make-directorial-debut-with-creed-iii-set-for-thanksgiving-2022-release/ar-BB1esIWA?ocid=msedgdhp"Michael B. Jordan has locked in his directorial debut. PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive, 34, has been tapped to direct Creed III for MGM. On top of his upcoming directing duties, which were first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Jordan will reprise his role as Adonis "Donnie" Johnson Creed and also produce the film, the outlet reported. Creed III is set for a Nov. 23, 2022 release. Sharing The Hollywood Reporter's article on his Instagram Stories, Jordan wrote, "Excited is an understatement!" "Directing has always been an aspiration, but the timing had to be right," Jordan said in a statement obtained by THR. He continued, "Creed III is that moment—a time in my life where I've grown more sure of who I am, holding agency in my own story, maturing personally, growing professionally, and learning from the Greats like Ryan Coogler, most recently Denzel Washington, and other top tier directors I respect. All of which sets the table for this moment." "This franchise and in particular the themes of Creed III are deeply personal to me," Jordan added. "I look forward to sharing the next chapter of Adonis Creed's story with the same responsibility of being its director and namesake." Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad are also expected to reprise their roles, according to the outlet. The Creed franchise takes place in the universe created by Sylvester Stallone in his own Rocky film franchise. It's unclear if Stallone will return to Creed III. Creed, directed by Black Panther's Ryan Coogler, debuted in 2015 and followed the story of Jordan's Donnie, the son of Apollo Creed and the rival of Stallone's Rocky Balboa. It was a success at the worldwide box office, earning more than $173 million. Its 2018 sequel Creed II also earned critical and commercial success."

Cool. I really enjoyed the last two films.

Shame he was the only best thing along with the Drago family about those garbage Creed movies.

He should fight Clubber Lang's son this time. Mr T would probably be up for it (it's not like he has anything better to do)

These Creed movies are really unnecessary. The franchise ended with the brilliant Rocky Balboa. Rocky's story came full circle.
The only good thing about these crappy Creed movies was the introduction of Florian Munteanu. That guy is destined to be an action star.

I think he needs to distance himself from the Rocky franchise.
Creed doesn’t need to fight another kid or nephew of a villain from Rocky. I think this needs to be something like Adonis finally becomes the champ, and then without Rocky as his mentor (because he moved to Vancouver to be a good grandfather)...
So Creed gets full of himself and loses the belt. Then redeems himself.
Or maybe he becomes the number one contender and loses due to a big head. Goes old school, retrains the right way and wins the title at the end. Something like that.

Some people may have concerns about Stallone not returning, a third Creed film being one too many, and Jordan pulling double duty as actor/director, but I feel like giving him benefit of the doubt. Maybe these concerns will be a good motivator for Jordan and the writers to really craft something that will try to defy expectation.

Maybe these concerns will be a good motivator for Jordan and the writers to really craft something that will try to defy expectation. I don’t mind him trying to direct. I hope he’s successful. I think the only thing that turned me off a bit was during “Creed II” Coogler couldn’t direct. So to keep things on schedule, Sylvester Stallone said he would just jump in a direct (to keep it going on time). He did direct some films in the past, including writing Rocky and Rocky II as well as directing some sequels. Michael B. Jordan and Tessa Thompson threatened to quit the project, and only wanted a black director to make “Creed II” I think they were a little disrespectful to a Legend like Stallone. This man gave Coogler permission to use his character to build a new franchise. He allowed all of this to happen, these actors to have a chance and it was “Creed” that threw Jordan and Tessa into Hollywood A listers. So he didn’t like that. I’m pretty sure that’s why he decided to leave after “Creed II” and make a prequel series for Rocky or a Rocky spin off.

Well Steven Caple Jr. ended up directing Creed II and seemed to get an endorsement from Stallone himself: “I believe it's important for the director to also be a part of this generation like I was in mine, to make the story as relatable as possible. We are extremely lucky to have the talented young filmmaker Steven Caple Jr. step up and accept the role of director. I am confident that he and Michael B. Jordan will hit it out of the park!” variety.com/2017/film/news/creed-2-director-steven-caple-jr-1202626542/#article-commentsI think one reason Stallone doesn't want to do another is he has played Rocky eight times and is probably tired of doing it. I mean he has to say enough is enough at a certain point and he's not getting any younger.

I mean he has to say enough is enough at a certain point and he's not getting any younger. If I remember right, that was a PR statement. Stallone was already under heat because when he won a “Golden Globe” for “Creed” he didn’t thank Coogler or Jordan in his speech and he got a lot of backlash. So he probably didn’t want to say something that came off as racist in any way. So he was the bigger man and just said nice things. But it’s all in the past. I love the Creed movies. I’m not being a “Basher”. I think Jordan is very talented. I hope “Creed III” is great and it shows Jordan has directing chops. I’m just remembering that one thing that was a bit sour.

Stallone doesn't do anything in these Creed movies but leave a vacancy open for an on set interpreter so I don't know what he claims he's had enough of. Easy money for acting like a drunk.

I would like to see Rocky fight Rambo. And guest starring Geraldine Hakewill, Maggie Q, Maggie Siff and Lauren Cohan. And the son of Butkus. They could call it BUTT.
