Really good win for the Rabbits last night built on a physically strong first half. They really beat up on the Roosters and put it on the scoreboard. After losing to Melbourne they needed a scalp and took one. This is a team who should be aiming for top 4 if not top 2. Not going to finish there if you lose to the first two premiership contenders you come across.
In the AFL Brisbane outplayed Geelong, but poor goal kicking and two very poor non holding-the-ball decisions saw them lose by a point. One of those games where I think the winner finished up looking like they have more problems moving forward than the losers. When's Jezza back for Geelong? They need him.

Brisbane beat the Pies by a point after the siren. Hard luck Hosko
In the NRL - Penrith murdered a poor Manly. And there is a good chance both games today could end with 40 point hidings too, Souths to beat the Dogs, Storm over Broncos.

I'm not too unhappy. A competitive loss to a contender, a win over Carlton a narrow loss to another contender isn't bad form. Leading up to Anzac Day nicely providing we beat the struggling Gints next week.
Penrith are a bloody good team. Wifi is down at the moment so can't watch all the games. We "upgraded" to NBN and all I can say is "Thankyou Messrs Turnbull and Abbott. This is much better than the original plan..."

I don’t know a single person who has had NBN make their internet better.

North Melbourne. WTF can you say? To be that bad this early in the season? I'd like to say it's unforgivable, but it's actually barely even surprising. Meeting a hot Bulldogs team was like a perfect storm. 167-39 in their biggest Home and Away game of the season the result.
And, in the NRL it was the same situation only the Bulldogs were on the wrong end of a humiliating loss. Not quite the 40 point win you predicted, but doesn't get much more emphatic than 38-nil.

Good call on the late game, both games really. Melbourne win 40-6.
In the AFL, whatever else Adelaide do this year I hope they keep isolating Walker in their forward line. 17 goals through 3 games for Tex. Early days, but he's a shot at 100 goals this year with that forward set up the way he's playing.

Really surprising what Sydney are doing to Richmond. I don't think the Tigers were expecting the type of consistent pressure Sydney gave shown them and Lynch and Grimes had dirty games. Statement game from the Swans, but more about what they could be in 2 or 3 years than this year. Round 3 a good time for a wake up call for the Tigers.

Some sides really struggling in the NRL - Cowboys were terrible against the Sharks. 36-6 at halftime, 44-10 after 80. Every aspect of their play was poor.
Gold Coast tried hard, but were just a tier below the Raiders, losing 22-4.
I know that there are the usual peanuts and pelicans on social media - but they are starting to go into overdrive now with the disparity of the results and the now constant bashing of Peter V’landys. His rule changes have killed RL, people aren’t going to watch because the results are so lopsided. I’m so over it - it’s not anyone else’s fault but Manly, Canterbury, Nth Qld and Brisbane’s for the own plight. Brisbane especially. They have some really talented players, but they also have some players who are being found out as not as good as many think. Milford, Lodge and Pangai Jr amongst them. All 3 were guilty of walking against Melbourne. Do you reckon Bellamy and the Storm put up with walkers ?

Very misleading scoreline in Monday's game. 2 points in it with about 3 minutes left and finished 36-22. Was actually a quality fighting effort from the Tigers after giving up a head start, but playing catch up all day rarely ends well.
Hawthorn nearly came from 4 goals down to beat Geelong. Cats holding on by 5 points. Chris Scott decided to start an irrelevant argument about how mean it is to boo players. Who would have thought that Isaac Smith leaving Hawthorn to play for their arch rival would get booed by his old fans?

Better effort from Wests, but you could see the class between the sides at 24-22. Parramatta weren’t looking nervous, stayed controlled. The Tigers looked like a 15 year old boy trying to unhook a bra. Scared, Excited and Flustered in equal measure and more hopeful rather than expectant.
In the AFL, I missed the “booing” controversy. Days after the fact, still trying to wade through the mountains of Swans beat Richmond stories.
BTW - did you hear the Swans beat Richmond ?
And it would be remiss of me not to mention the passing of Tommy Raudonikis.
Never given the credit his play deserved - 10 year NSW and Australian halfback - because he’s off field personality and persona was so large and gregarious that even today, youngsters 10 years too young to see him play or coach in any capacity knew exactly who he was. In many ways, Tommy was the epitome of what it is to be an Australian. Honest, egalitarian son of migrants who loved a laugh, a yarn and helping people - but didn’t suffer fools and didn’t mind saying so. A bit rough around the edges, but a heart of gold.

Should have mentioned Tommy. He was the first Blues coach I can remember and had an instantly recognisable face and voice.
Port and Richmond had another classic last night. That should have been the Grand Final last year and could well be this year's decider too. Port won, mainly because they had the ball last. Even if Dan Houiston sealed the win with a mark on the last line.
Sydney won again over Essendon speaking of teams who always produce classics when they play.
Manly became the first of the Hopeless Four to get a win, knocking off the Warriors by a point. And if Penrith aren't the premiership favourites after last night then they bloody should be.

Sheesh, things have gone pear shaped very quickly for the Knights. Getting belted by a contender is one thing, getting belted by the Titans who are only a decent team at this stage is another. Roosters and Sharks had a good game.
Very poor loss for Collingwood, playing the Eagles in Perth next week, so we'll go into Anzac Day 1-4. Good opportunity for a rare Bombers win this April 25th.
Suns just keep losing games they should be winning by now of they're going anywhere.

So, the Canberra trainer gets fined $10k because of his very slight intervention in a melee instigated by Stephen Crichton dragging opponent Joseph Taphine into a try celebration. Crichton got fined, what, $1500? That seems a touch ridiculous to me. Mind you, the entire incident was ridiculous to start with.
Tommy Raudonikis will be getting a memorial service at the SCG this Monday. Geelong will be giving Gazza a proper send off at Kardinia Park this weekend ahead of destroying the Kangas.
And Joe Daniher's playing against Essendon this Saturday. Must win for the Lions.

There’s a few Penrith players that like a bit of cheap shot niggle. And Tapine is no angel either. But the 10K fine for the trainer is absolutely ridiculous. Speaking of fines, Wests Tigers owe many people half their money back after their 1st half last weekend. Speaking still of Fines, the Bulldogs got fined 20K for leaving an obviously concussed (stumbling around unable to run concussed) Lachlan Lewis on the field for at least 2 sets.
Tonight - Penrith obvious favourites over Brisbane, but it might not be the thrashing many are predicting. I get a sense the Broncos will stand up tonight. They’ll still lose, but by 12-14 points. St Kilda play Richmond in the AFL - form says the Saints, but the Tigers should get the chocolates. I wonder what odds you would’ve got that after 4 rounds, the Top 3 would be Bulldogs, Demons and Swans, and they’d all be undefeated ?

Close to spot on with the Penrith game. Dees are the other undefeated AFL team. Bulldogs may just be right in their window the next 2-3 years. Using Hawthorn as a comparitive. Hawks won a random, miles ahead of schedule premiership in 2008, were dreadful the following 2 years and, by 2013 a 4-5 year window opened for them. For the Dogs enough of that 2016 side is still there and they've picked up some guns in the off season. They should be the real deal.

Well, Collingwood suffered a forgivable but costly loss out west, but the Roosters, Carlton and Essendon all lost. So not a bad weekend really.
Two thrillers yesterday, one in each code. The Gints scored two goals in the last three minutes to beat the Swans at the SCG, and Tigers fans will be wondering where their 80 minute performance yesterday was a week ago against the Cowboys as they lost in OT to Souths.
Looks like Collingwood and Tigers have the same problem: when you have a brutal early season draw you HAVE to win the winnable games. If you don't 1-4 and 1-5 just puts you too far off the pace and makes a struggle look like a disaster.

Statement win from Melbourne over Richmond. They may be the real deal. With contenders Port and the Dees both knocking off the defending premiers early in the season it makes for an intriguing flag race. Tiggies face the Bulldogs next week with Dust ruled out due to a concussion.
Statement of a different kind by Canberra. Their season is falling apart for no specific reason. They should be well up to the Cowboys standard and couldn't get the job done.

Amazingly, after a few upsets and a few closer results - all the BS talk about the rule changes in the NRL has evaporated. Cowboys have won 3 on the spin. Canberra lose 3. I can’t quite put my finger on what the Raiders are doing wrong. The cowboys, whilst not perfect, just seem to be running harder and working harder. Speaking of working hard - Canterbury put in a supreme effort against the sharks and were rewarded with a close win. It wasn’t pretty, but it was gritty and scrappy and (pardon the pun) bulldogged. In the AFL - Dees and Dogs still 6-0 and confounding the critics. However, much like your Dragons Hosko, the Dees have been March/April premiers many times previous. Huge ANZAC day clash tomorrow. Dons or Pies’ season could well be done and dusted with a loss tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure neither Essendon nor Collingwood is getting near the top 8 this year so the biggest game today is the Dragons vs the Roosters for many reasons. Let's hope we see good contests in both.

Saw a decent contest in the AFL and a no contest in the NRL. Storm/ Warriors might be better or may be a blow out.
