I thought if his older brother died.....
Now he has three kids of his own. I shouldn't have said "never" but it's never now that Willy has heirs.

Remember when Commudus killed his father?
What if Harry gets power hungry?

Now we're posting non sequiturs to keep a useless thread going. "Remember this scene from a movie that has nothing to do with anything?"
Frogs, sometimes it amazes me what you think other people find interesting. "I was hoping Harry would get the throne." No you weren't. More to the point, who on this board did you think cared?

Pangolin seems interested..... He made a few posts, the last of which was three hours ago. Very interested. Next you'll tell me I'm interested since I'm posting in the thread, despite the fact that I haven't commented on the topic itself. It's all good, this is why you're a vital member of this board. You throw stuff against a wall to see what sticks. You keep us going during the slow times. I wouldn't have this board any other way.

Always taken an interest in the Royals. Len Ashworth in Lithgow was my editor when I did an unpaid internship in Lithgow. He got famous after I left when it came out that he had agreed not to report on an attempt that had been made on the Queen's life in 1970 when he was a cadet journalist.
An unknown group had left a massive log stolen from the Oberon timber mill on the tracks just outside Lithgow to derail Her Majesty's train. Inexplicably, the driver slowed the train just outside Lithgow and, rather than derailing the train, the log got stuck under the wheels and eventually clogged the breaking gear.
Lenny sat on the story for 39 years but was always able to bring it up when police were reluctant to give him information and usually got what he wanted.

Why would somebody want to kill the Queen?

Well, that's the thing. To this day the group is unknown.
It was the 70s so could have been anyone from fanatical Republicans to hippies to commies to angry uni students.

Maybe not to cause panic or concern?
So you're a journalist
Do you yourself cover them?

As a regional journalist I've rarely had reason to. There was a big story last year when the Palace Letters were released that detailed the correspondence between the Queen and the then Governor General Sir John Kerr. In 1975 Kerr had used his reserve powers to sack the elected Prime Minister Gough Whitlam and insert opposition leader Malcolm Fraser as caretaker PM until an election occurred. There has always been theories and debates about how big a part Her Majesty played in the decision and what she knew and when. The letters revealed that Kerr had cut off correspondence with the Queen around a week before The Dismissal and she had no knowledge of the GG's decision until he had made it, though she certainly knew he was considering sacking the PM and clarified that he had the powers and authority to do so in "only the gravest circumstances." The Dismissal occurred in 1975 so it was a big thing for Boomers. We did vox pops, a lot of opinion columns, a week of page 3 stories. I met the late Duke of Edinburgh in Sydney when I was 18. He was presenting my friend with an award. He was a fairly down to earth fellow in that meeting. RIP Prince Philip.

Brother vs. Brother
Lives torn apart over a crown
Reminds me of Warrior with Tommy and Brendan or Gladiator with Commudus and Maximus, no?

I mean - you have to assume Harry will be there, no?
Or does he stay away because of the media/press?
Meghan to an even larger degree.
It's a touchy situation. If she attends - does she get accused of making it all about her? And would she be comfortable after all of the uproar created with her leaving and Harry following? I'm sure there's a lot of bitterness there. But it's a death in the 'Family' and a funeral - so do you push all of these things aside and not make it about 'You'. If she does not attend - she then gets accused of being cold and selfish
It's like Meghan and Harry are in a no win situation here
Can't wait to see how it all unfolds.
