Interestingly enough, Bernard Herrmann’s first score was for Citizen Kane.

Poledouris had done other films before The Blue Lagoon, one being Big Wednesday - 77'.
Horner did The Lady In Red - 79' before Humanoids From The Deep - 80'.

Classical composer Erich Wolfgang Korngold worked as a arranger for other’s music in European films from the silent era. After fleeing the Nazis and coming to Hollywood, he first arranged for the 1935 “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” some music from Mendelssohn’s overture of the same name. But his first full-fledged original score came later the same year for Errol Flynn’s breakthrough movie, “The Sea Hawk.” Suites from Korngold’s movie scores can be heard on recordings and classical music stations to this day.
