Well, I'm amazed and very pleased to see that three of the directors I mentioned in my thread about the DGA nominations ( link) did receive Oscar nominations for their films this morning: Lee Isaac Chung for Minari, Emerald Fennell for Promising Young Woman, and Chloé Zhao for Nomadland. I'm thrilled that all were selected. It's the first time in history that two women have been nominated in the same year (!!), and it was also Fennell's debut effort, a rarity unto itself. The two other nominees are David Fincher for Mank and Thomas Vinterberg for Another Round. Congratulations to all. And here are all the nominations in every category: 2021 Oscar nominations

Lots of new names Here.
- Most of us film fans know David Fincher, the only past directing nominee in the list - Thomas Vinterberg directed many other films already, mostly Danish films. He directed the Oscar nominated The Hunt and also directed the recent version of Far from the Madding Crowd - Promising Young Woman is Emerald Fennell's directing debut. - Minari is Lee Isaac Chung's 4th feature direction. - The Oscar is for Chloé Zhao to lose. Nomadland is her third feature directing work. Her other two were "Songs My Brothers Taught Me" and "The Rider"

So, I just rented Another Round from from my Amazon Prime cite.... I just saw One Night in Miami... (2020) and was not too impressed.. It feels too confined which hinders all of the progress it ultimately has as a movie, also maybe it's just me but perhaps Adir>Odom Jr. As well.

NOMADLAND and PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN were both strong films, but I adored neither. Big thumbs down for MANK - real snoozer.
