Many point to this album as the one that took the career of KISS to the big time as well as one of the best (if not the best) albums from KISS. Any fans of this album? This album is known for songs such as Detroit Rock City, God of Thunder, Shout It Out Loud, Flaming Youth, King of the Nigh Time World, and Beth.

Alive! put them on a bigger map, and Destroyer sealed the deal. Other than Great Expectations it's a great record. And so far, the only track that hasn't been mentioned* is my favorite. lol edit: * and Do You Love Me?

This or Hotter Than Hell would be their best studio album, but their best album overall is Alive.

One of those albums that, if you grew up in the 70's, you had to have.

One of those albums that, if you grew up in the 70's, you had to have. At our house, we had Destroyer and Alive, and no one really knows why. None of us really liked Kiss all that much, but somehow the albums were in the collection. In the late 70's, you HAD to have a copy of Rumours and Steve Miller's Greatest Hits. Essential apparently.

Meat Loaf - Bat Out of Hell Aerosmith - Toys in the Attic AC/DC - Highway to Hell Frampton Comes Alive (yeah, I know...) Pink Floyd - Dark Side and the Wall Led Zeppelin IV (barf) Rolling Stones - Tattoo You Queen - News of the World
others I'll think of later. About 1980 I went to a yard sale and bought Highway 61 Revisited and discovered that there was a shitload of great music that wasn't on 97 Rock's shallow playlist

Two more, Eagles- Hotel California Elton John- either Goodbye Yellow Brick Road or his Greatest Hits (the one where he's in his white suit sitting by the white piano) Oh yeah, the first Boston album and the first Cars album.

Frampton Comes Alive (yeah, I know...) Just curious... What does that mean? Frampton's coolness level seems to have taken a slight downturn since 1976. A lot of people seem to respect him as much as I respect Rick Dees or the 1910 Fruitgum Co. Not as bad as Billy Squire and I still like those 2-3 good tunes on FCA, but I seem to be in the minority.

I think Elton John was an acquired taste that came after the teen years. I don't remember any of my friends having anything of his

That’s crazy talk. FCA is a great album and Peter Frampton is still considered one of the best among his peers. In fact, Rick Beato chose “Do You Feel Like We Do” for the 100th episode of his “What Makes This Song Great” series. youtu.be/7lCpTHZkvncThere is no shame in recognizing and acknowledging great musicianship when you hear it, and nothing wrong with Billy Squier either. Just ignore that one video. Haha

]We never stopped listening to Squier because of that video. His music went downhill. Yeah, his catalog did indeed get a little weak after a while. He never quite matched Don't Say No, but there are some really good tracks on every album since. Well, at least up to Tell the Truth. I gave up on him after that. lol

Journey's Separate Ways ("Hey, I cam play air guitar better than Neal Schon!"), Pat Benatar's Shadows of the Night (Pilot Patty B. wins WWII). Squier's was silly but I don't remember anyone saying "Not listening to him anymore". But he swears that his concerts (he was on tour when the video came out) went from sell outs to half full overnight.
Just is case anyone hasn't seen it, The Manos, the Hands of Fate of music videos

I read that Dick Wagner plays guitar on the studio cut of 'Sweet Pain'. The song 'Flaming Youth' is co-credited to Ace Frehley, it might be my favourite.
