Box Office Pro has released the long range tracking for Homecoming and have calculated a $135 million opening weekend domestically. This opening weekend then projects for Homecoming to earn around $325 million in total at the domestic box office. Both figures would likely put the Spidey solo film near the top earners at the box office this year (assuming international markets also flock to theaters), and it stacks up very well with previous Marvel Cinematic Universe films, but also previous Spider-Man iterations. screenrant.com/spider-man-homecoming-box-office-predictions/

I don't know, $135 million seems a bit steep. I could definitely be underestimating the Spider-Man crowd, but I was thinking more like $90-$110 million.

If the arrangement works, they'll continue the sharing deal because it's mutually profitable.

Didn't know Sony's stakes, literally and figuratively, were that high. And I don't even say that I wish the flick ill to rib you dudes or as some broadside against the MCU. I just honestly think three versions of essentially the same movie ("Spider-Man 1") in fifteen years, with three other sequels peppered in no less, is abjectly ridiculous. I've paid to see every single one up until now, because I am a sucker and a rube and a lifelong fan of the wall-crawlin' webslinger -- but I'm not seeing this one in theaters. (Obviously I'm going to Redbox it in six months, watch and possibly even enjoy it, return it, and conveniently never mention that on here.)

(Obviously I'm going to Redbox it in six months, watch and possibly even enjoy it, return it, and conveniently never mention that on here.) Apparantly they are. Last year that division of Sony made a loss of over 700 million USD. They have a lot riding on Homecoming. If that fails they have no money to finish their current productions, let alone start up new ones. You bet Disney will swoop in on the Spider-man properties when that happens. I never saw ASM 1 & 2. Not even on tv or dvd. So to me its been 10 years since Spider-man 3 so I am totally ready for a new Spider-man incarnation. I do realise Im the minority. And you gotta admit that Holland did a very good job in Civil War. So yes, I am ready for Homecoming.

It would have to be an epic disaster for that to even be possible, and it's not going to be close to that.

Spider-man 3.... That was a turd. It's a mess, but it's a guilty pleasure of mine because it completes the trilogy and sort of halfway gets where it's trying to go. But yeah, it's objectively not the best onscreen depiction of Spider-Man.

I hope Im wrong of course.

I hope you are pleasantly relieved on opening night :-) I'm sure you'll be so overwhelmed by the whole spectacle you'll struggle to not have "pleasantly relieved" yourself right in the theater while watching it.

I mean, how many part 3s are as good as the first two anyway? I can't name any.

Spider-man 3.... That was a turd. Yeah, but so are most part threes. Iron Man 3 was a turd as well. I don't know why people pretend otherwise.

The Iron Man franchise has actually only one good movie in it. The first one. 2 was not as bad as many claim it is and 3 is actually the same story but both are just mediocre. So not really good. But I will give you a good 3. Captain America Civil War. Yes there were a lot of Avengers in it but it was a Cap movie. The third installment of the Steve & Bucky relationship. And nobody can tell me this one is a bad movie. Not even you Colden!!
