Well comedies are the cheapest to make so they have the lowest risk and are the most disposable. I think they often have better production values--they have fancier sets, better cinematography. Horror is considered the cheapest but comedies must be considered more mainstream--yet they do fall into obscurity quickly in a lot of cases. I never even heard of the Doberman Gang movies until I saw some posters being displayed recently.

Well Jason Alexander appeared in some comedies like North, For Better or Worse, and Dunston Check's In. Those movies didn't necessarily revolve around him, but having him appear in them at the time certainly didn't hurt. Julia also appeared in comedies like North and Father's Day. Same "non-revolving necessarily, but beneficial at the time" thing applies to her. I remember Matt doing a big-budget movie version of the TV show Lost in Space. I never expected to see Matt work with Gary Oldman on the big screen. Dunston Checks In was a guilty pleasure of mine as a kid. I watched it with my 10 year old son not too long ago and it’s still funny. It’s like of like someone took that plot and dumbed it down to make “Tom and Jerry” (2021) That is true, but I think starring as the main character in whatever movie they offer you is different than accepting supporting parts. It seems unlikely to me that Julia Louis Dreyfuss wasn't offered the lead role in any dumb comedies. Sure, there is North, but that is a Rob Reiner movie. David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry and Jennifer Aniston were the lead in a handful of completely forgettable movies. Lisa Kudrow actually cared about the material, which is why she starred in mostly completely under the radar comedies like Clockwatchers and The Opposite of Sex. And her one mainstream movie is a cult classic. Yes, she starred in Lucky Numbers and some other crap later down the line as well.

I agree, though I can't really say that any of the Sienfeld cast "cashed in" besides Michael Richards with Trial & Error. Friends is probably the most extreme example. All 6 of the cast members made the leap, though for most of them it was short lived. Remember Ed? Matt LaBlanc's baseball monkey movie. I feel sorry for Matt LaBlanc. I do think he can act, but he’s typecast as the moron. Or goofy comedian guy. I mean, he’s no Marlon Brando, but I feel like he could have been at least a good supporting actor. Sort of like James Marsden. The guy from “Enchanted”, “Hop” “Sonic” and the fiancé who loses the girl in “The Notebook” and “Superman Returns”... You know why I think the 1990s were the easiest for TV stars to "cash in?" Because the 1990s is when most of the cast members were very marketable. Good looking, young etc. I was looking through 1980s TV shows and that just isn't the case with many of those shows. Though talk about cashing in. 2 years after Taxi aired, this was released.

At least "Serving Sara" gave us one good thing (or good person I should say):

Yup, and that is the lowest low of her career.

At least "Serving Sara" gave us one good thing (or good person I should say): Amy Adams is obviously still attractive, but she was smokin' hot back in the early 2000s.

Great now you just made me wanna see Matt Leblanc as James Marsden’s character in Sonic. Would have loved to have seen him interact with Sonic. Matt Leblanc I feel is a very underrated actor. He’s clearly got talent, but either he’s got a shitty agent or has just chosen some shitty projects. I actually did think he was ok in Lost In Space despite how the movie is (actually a guilty pleasure of mine), but I think I see why he never went big. He’s always basically playing Joey and I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing cause he plays Joey so well. I mean he even got a Joey spin off. Schwimmer is the same. He’s tried doing other things, but even he’s just playing a different version of Ross. So how did Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox stay somehow successful? I mean Aniston is huge in Hollywood now/

I mean Aniston is huge in Hollywood now/ For someone like Jennifer, it feels like they have to take matters into their own hands a bit to escape typecasting. That means auditioning for roles instead of just taking a script/money offer that just comes along, personally appealing to someone for a role, taking a pay cut to get a role, purposely rejecting roles/scripts that could typecast, etc.
